An American traveler who has visited 21 countries and 40 US states has named a lesser-known Australian gem her favorite place in the world.

Sarah Knuth from Nashville was impressed when she and her family visited Hayman Island in Queensland’s beautiful Whitsunday Islands.

Hayman Island is the northernmost island of the Whitsundays, famous for its pristine beaches, turquoise waters, incredible coral reefs and luxury resorts.

“We’ve been to 40 states and 21 countries and just found our favorite place,” the mother of three said in a video.

Sarah, along with her husband and three children, have been all over the world to top destinations like Paris, London and New York, but she said the humble Australian island is at the top of her list.

The mother fell in love with Hayman Island’s breathtaking sunsets, stunning beaches and local wildlife.

Sarah arrived at the island resort after dark and was thrilled by the ‘welcome crew’ of dozens of nocturnal rock wallabies, who called the place ‘the wildest place’ they have ever been.

The family of five also took a helicopter tour of the Great Barrier Reef to see the spectacular natural beauty from above and enjoyed going snorkeling to witness the island’s marine life and coral reefs.

The travel and lifestyle blogger shared her dreamy island experience online, leaving viewers in disbelief.

‘Literally what dreams are made of! It is beautiful!’ said one woman and another wrote: ‘I’ve never had any interest in going to Australia until now.’

“This just made it to the top of my bucket list after following your journey!” a third replied.

‘Oh wow…absolutely surreal!!’ someone added.

Hayman Island is a private island home to the lavish InterContinental Resort off the coast of Queensland, 200 km south of Townsville.

The five-star resort features a beautiful swimming pool where travelers can relax and enjoy the beautiful sunsets and stunning ocean views.

There are 182 rooms, suites and villas, as well as gourmet dining options at the resort’s seven lavish bars and restaurants.

Outside the property, visitors can explore the grassy coastal cliffs, pristine beaches with striking blue waters and the world-famous Great Barrier Reef.

The island has seen a string of notable guests, including Jane Fonda, Bill Gates, Nicole Kidman and Rod Stewart.
