Hayley Hasselhoff weighed in on Hollywood’s ongoing “fake baby” debate when she recently stressed that celebrity children are not inherently undeserved of their success.
While attending the Remus pre-award tea time event last month at The Beverly Hills Hotel, the daughter of Baywatch’s David Hasselhoff and Pamela Bach proudly told DailyMail.com that her career grew out of years of hard work and dedication to her craft .
From an early age, the determined entertainer said she was adamant about proving her talent came first, before any possible family ties.
At just 17 years old, Hayley landed a lead role in the 2010 ABC Family show, Huge, after a lengthy audition process.
The 30-year-old curve model and influencer went on to say that the entertainment industry is full of people making misconceptions about the reasons why famous offspring tend to follow their families into the business.

“It’s hard because at the end of the day everyone’s journey is going to be different,” Hayley said.
She continued, “So you can’t compare everyone’s journey to how they got into the industry when they’re a fake baby, or whatever you call it.”
“But at the end of the day, I know mine — and mine was very sincere,” the Hasselhoffs alum said. “I had to find my own agent. I got my own agent when I was 14. I auditioned for it like everyone else.’
Looking back on booking the lead role on Huge, Hayley set the record straight for going through every step you would have had to go through that everyone else would have had to go through.”
“And it’s a tough time because they also know that if they book you it’s going to come with a certain perception,” she reflected.
This prompted her to always show up and “be prepared” and “passionate about what” she was performing.
“We did a reality show called the Hasselhoffs on A&E and you see me book my job for Huge, and I’m literally bawling my eyes out,” she said elatedly.
“I’m roaring my eyes out because I thought, ‘Do you know how much I’ve been through?'” she continued.
“I had to find my own agent. I got my own agent when I was 14. I auditioned for it just like everyone else,” she said (seen above on The X Factor: Celebrity in 2019)
“I knew how badly I wanted this and how much training and how much just therapy to become an actor really got me to that place. So it was a dream come true.’
Hayley says she experienced different reactions when she was the daughter of a famous actor.
“I’ve definitely had specific situations that were difficult, and then I’ve had one that was welcoming,” the star admitted.
“But I think it’s the end of the day, I’d say I’ve had few situations when I first started out where I’d audition and I’d feel the fallacy, and I’d just sit there and be like “Well, let me show you why I’m here.”
“I think that’s always been kind of my attitude. I’ve always said, “Well, let me show you why I’m here.”
“I’ve definitely had specific situations that were tough, and then I’ve had one that was welcoming,” the star reflected on growing up with celebrity parents (pictured in 2019)
She appeared in her family’s short-lived reality show, The Hasselhoffs, in 2010 (seen with both parents and sister Taylor (L)
“My art will speak for itself, and I don’t think I need to speak for it. And if it’s not there, that’s okay because it’s a lesson to be learned and it will be next. ‘
Hayley also argued that her parents actively discouraged Hayley from doing their business in her youth.
But even though she shied away from appearing in school productions, Hayley found pleasure in taking personal acting lessons.
While her parents didn’t pressure her into acting, she said it was a blessing “to see” her mom and dad “follow their hearts,” despite knowing she wanted to be a movie star as a toddler.
“I think that was an option in life to be able to be a storyteller, to be able to be on set and create something with a group of people who all wanted to be able to do something to get that final product,” she continued full. .
Hayley further recalled that she “always knew” she wanted to be an actress and started telling others when she was only “two, three or four.”
‘But it took a while. My family was very realistic about it,” she recalls.
After doing “some stuff on Baywatch” as a kid, the actress said she had “a really bad audition where ‘she had to cuss'” when she was just six years old.
“I remember running out and saying, ‘They made me call names!'” And my family was like, well, maybe we’ll wait a little longer,’ she mused. “And then I put myself in an acting school at a young age, where I was basically on my own and a teacher in my early teens, and it was really just therapy for me.”
“It was a way for me to really release my emotions through someone else, and I needed that,” she said.
“So there’s a very sentimental relationship between me and acting, more than anything else I do.
“And I know when we talk about all the arts, I think it’s so important that kids can just get into it.
Busy: In addition to her appearances on This Morning (UK) and for Good Morning America, she said she has “traveled to Utah to talk to adolescent children on mental health programs”
“I actually didn’t do theater in school because of the relationship with my family, I really think because I think I didn’t want people to think I was just doing it to do it.
“And it was kind of a surprise to everyone when I landed the lead role on Huge, because it was my secret, it was my therapy, and it had such sentimental value.”
Hayley, who had a strong career in the entertainment world, also teased that “a lot of wonderful things are coming in the pot soon.”
“One of the biggest things right now for me that I can talk about and enjoy talking about is really just being a big mental health advocate,” she noted.
“I did 15 plays last month for a lot of different things. I am a fashion presenter for This Morning (UK) and Good Morning America, among others,” said Hayley. “And so those jobs actually got me to travel to Utah to talk to adolescent kids in mental health programs.
She concluded that she “really immerses” herselfto understand what needs to change in mental health worldwide, but especially in America.’
