The Hawks made up a 13-point deficit in the fourth quarter on Tuesday to keep their playoff hopes alive by beating the Celtics 119-117 after a late rise.
Atlanta trailed 102-89 with 9:32 left in the game, but later ripped off a 15-2 point to tie the game and eventually win.
Trae Young nailed a 30-foot three-pointer with 2.1 seconds left to give Atlanta a two-point lead they were unwilling to relinquish.
Jayson Tatum, on the other hand, was able to pull off a tough three-point effort on a timeout by the Celtics, but it fell short as Boston had to wait at least one more game to clinch a spot in the semifinals of the Book Eastern Conference.
Young led all scorers with 38 points, while Jaylen Brown’s 35 were not enough for the Celtics.

The Hawks were without starting guard Dejounte Murray, who was suspended for Game 5 after making contact with an official following the team’s Game 4 loss.
Boston still leads the series 3-2 and gets two more chances to advance to a possible series with the Sixers, which the Nets won in the first round.
The extended streak is beneficial to Philly, however, as their injured star Joel Embiid now has at least two more days to rest his sprained knee.
