‘Hawk Tuah’ girl Haliey Welch lays low in rural Tennessee town as the secret behind her signed hat deal is revealed
She’s the queen of the internet after her graphic demonstration of a “sex tip” involving spitting went viral and immediately drew imitation from fans.
But while Hawk Tuah girl Haliey Welch – whose name is often misspelled as ‘Hailey’ – is on the verge of cashing in, it seems she’s finding fame difficult to deal with.
After all the publicity, DailyMail.com can reveal that Welch has virtually hidden away in a quiet town in Tennessee, where she lives with her family in a remote rural area.
Meanwhile, her friends and acquaintances in the close-knit community about 60 miles south of Nashville have created a protective wall around her as she comes to terms with her new life in the spotlight, however long that may take.
Even her newly signed deal with a local hat maker for caps, emblazoned with her sex advice slogan, is shrouded in an element of secrecy.
Haliey Welch became famous for the video in which she used the term “Hawk Tuah” to describe spitting as part of a sex act

However, DailyMail.com can reveal that she will not be visiting the manufacturer to do the signing. Instead, the caps are brought to her at a neutral location.
Welch rose to worldwide fame after she was asked for her tip for “driving a man crazy in bed” during a Nashville street video for Tim & Dee TV, which aired June 19.
Enthusiastically, and with many demonstrations to imitate the sound, she revealed, “You have to give them that hawk-tuah.”
Hundreds of memes have followed, talk of a Hollywood agent, the phrase shouted by a fan as 2024 US Open golf champion Bryson DeChambeau hit a tee shot at the LIV event in Nashville and gymnast Olivia Dunne joined the craze.
She wrote “leave Miss Tuah out of this” after a GIF of Welch was in the comments when she posted bikini photos of herself with MLB star boyfriend Paul Skenes.
Two other sports heroes are also participating. Philadelphia Phillies star Bryce Harper himself went viral after appearing to reference the craze when he hit a double in a home game against the Arizona Diamondbacks.
Footage showed him making a fist and spitting on it, complete with the phrase Hawk Tuah. Then mixed martial arts hero Conor McGregor tweeted on X: “Have we found the hawk-tuah yet?”

As Hawk Tuah girl Haliey Welch looks to make some money, it seems she’s having a hard time dealing with fame – some might say notoriety –
Welch rose to worldwide fame after she was asked for her tip for “driving a man crazy in bed” during a Nashville street video for Tim & Dee TV, airing June 19.
Meanwhile, Welch signed a deal with fledgling local company Fathead Threads, whose owner Jason Poteete told DailyMail.com that he is making an initial batch of 2,000 hats and orders are pouring in from across the country.
His cell phone rang continuously as we visited his small manufacturing facility.
Poteete, who started his business in April with a machine that can produce six hats every 15 minutes, politely declined to reveal any personal background information about his new client, believed to have been born in 2004, making her 19 or 20.
After the deal was signed, he wrote on Facebook: “I was given permission to sell these hats after speaking with Hailey (sic). She gets a share of the profits from the sale.’
Chelsea Bradford, Welch’s close friend next to her in the video, was equally reluctant to talk about her friend and the night they were asked the explicit question at the party.
She had previously written on Facebook “finally giving my girl commission” about the hat deal.
Her parents answered DailyMail.com’s questions protectively in their family home.
Attempts to speak to Welch were met with silence.
Since becoming an internet sensation, Welch has teamed up with Tennessee-based hat company Fathead Threads to sell her own line of hats

This week she has been holed up in her family’s home and sources say the attention created by the phenomenal response to Hawk Tuah is making her nervous – despite the money-making opportunities.
And other signs that the internet sensation may be under pressure include a post on a recently created Facebook account belonging to Haliey Welch that read “#hawktuah but i need some peace.”
Several fake social media accounts have surfaced, all misspelling her name as Hailey and there is no confirmation that it is real.
However, it has the correct spelling of her name and includes a photo of Welch with Poteete plus others with friends, including Chelsea. The friend photos were all posted in the past few days, but there’s no indication of when they were actually taken.
Amid the frenzy, the chatter of big-league Hollywood talent agencies vying for her is gaining momentum, but again without any substantiation.
Welch has reportedly already signed with United Talent Agency, which represents Kevin Hart, according to the New York Post.
Hours after that story appeared, entertainment news website TMZ shot it down. There are also unsubstantiated rumors that Donald Trump’s former literary agent Byrd Leavell was interested in hiring her.
However, despite all the rumors, misinformation and wild speculation, a source in Lewisburg has told DailyMail.com that Welch has enlisted the help of an attorney to negotiate the coming minefield in an attempt to capitalize as much as possible.
There’s plenty to chase. One meme on social media shows an image of two men wearing hockey jerseys with her slogan on the back and the caption: “This city is alive.”
Others portray Welch’s face replacing skateboarder and entrepreneur Tony Hawk on the cover of his PlayStation game, while another edited her into a scene from The Lion King, captioning it “Hawk Tuah Matata.”
And there are several non-Welch approved hats for sale online, some for as little as $14.99.
But while much of the internet loves the “Hawk Tuah Girl,” the crude advice hasn’t yet gained a 100 percent fanbase. Shock jock Howard Stern calls her “every father’s worst nightmare.”
The 70-year-old radio host said on his SiriusXM show: “As a father of three girls myself, it’s every dad’s worst nightmare to see her on Instagram saying, ‘Yes, you gotta yell tuah on that damn thing.’ .’
He said he saw Welch’s video all over Instagram, despite not using the app often. “I’m not on Instagram much, but that hawk-tuah girl is everywhere,” he added.
“When I analyze it, I think the reason people like it so much is because the girl is so uninhibited and it’s so natural when she says it. It’s like she didn’t even think about it.’
