‘Hawk Tuah’ girl breaks her silence after backlash to Mets first pitch

Many people may not know it, but Hailey Welch, also known as “Hawk Tuah” girl, has a heart of gold, despite mounting criticism from Mets fans over her performance on the mound prior to a home game against the A’s.

The social media sensation was invited to the mound and throw out the first pitch for Thursday’s game — a 7-6 loss to New York — despite some questioning what on earth she was doing at a baseball game.

A Mets reporter for Newsday also revealed that he wasn’t even allowed to call Welch by her famous online nickname.

Welch has now responded to the backlash following her first major public appearance since becoming an overnight social media sensation.

She told her approximately 229,600 followers on X: “I think some of the baseball community was not too happy to see me yesterday.

‘Hawk Tuah’ girl Hailey Welch attended Thursday’s Mets-A’s game to raise awareness for a nonprofit called ‘America’s Vet Dogs’ amid backlash from fans over her presence

‘The main reason I went to the competition was to raise awareness and make a donation to America’s Veterinary Dogs, an organization that matches dogs with war veterans for permanent homes.

‘Join me and donate to this great cause. I miss you already, buddy,’

Welch later responded to her post with a link to the nonprofit she was trying to raise awareness for during the Mets game: ‘Vetdogs.org.’

People at X immediately praised her because she spoke out.

“Ironically, you made a semi-indecent joke and went viral with it. But honestly, every other interaction I’ve seen has been a positive and uplifting season, I wish you nothing but success,” one fan commented under Welch’s post.

“And you’re a dog lover, so that’s an automatic win.”

Someone else said: ‘Jealousy is horrible, keep it up!’

“Keep doing it, you’re doing great,” said another fan.

As many of you know, Welch went viral after he posted a graphic demonstration of how to give good oral sex in a street interview filmed in June in Nashville.
