LIHUE, Hawaii — Firefighters in Hawaii brought a major fire under control at a biomass power plant on the island of Kauai on Friday.
Crews were called to the plant around 3:30 p.m., KITV Island News reported. The fire brigade had the fire under control about two hours later.
An image of the fire showed red flames and black smoke billowing into the sky.
The fire was contained to the biomass plant and posed no threat to the public, officials said.
The Kauai Fire Department is investigating what caused the fire.
