Have You Been Paying Attention? star Sam Pang is confirmed as host of 2023 Logie Awards

Did you pay attention? star Sam Pang has been confirmed as the host of the 2023 Logie Awards – as TV’s night of nights returns to Sydney for the first time in nearly three decades

Comedian Sam Pang has been confirmed as host of the 2023 Logie Awards.

The 49-year-old will host the event, which will be held in Sydney this July for the first time since 1986.

“It’s a huge honor to be asked to host the Logies and while it will be weird not to have a buzzer or a beer for me, hopefully I’m up to the challenge,” said Sam.

“I’m very fortunate to be part of this industry and can’t wait for July 30 in Sydney to celebrate Australian television during the night of nights and guide viewers at home through the entire four-hour broadcast.”

Sam was chosen as this year’s host after making a surprise appearance on stage at last year’s ceremony to accept the Logie award for Most Popular Actress on behalf of his girlfriend Kitty Flanagan, who was unable to attend.

After accepting the statuette, he compared the experience to the 1973 Oscars, when Marlon Brando won and sent Sacheen Littlefeather to collect his award.

“Kitty would be mortified that she won this award, considering all the nominees, she’ll be glad to know it wasn’t a very popular win in the room,” he said during his speech.

“First, I wanted to say that I had a small part in season one of Fisk, this will be the first time that a speech is longer than the part. Not invited back for season two, but that doesn’t matter.’

Seven Network’s Chief Content Officer: Entertainment Programming, Angus Ross, said: “On standby last year to accept an award for Kitty Flanagan, Sam took the stage and stole the whole show with his wry and witty asides. .’

“We’re excited for audiences to see even more of Sam Pang on Seven as he helms the ship all night long with his genuine affection for the industry, past and present, alongside his trademark wit.”

It comes after Seven confirmed that this year’s Logies will be held in Sydney for the first time since 1986.

The award ceremony has been held on the Gold Coast since 2018 with the support of the Queensland government, but that deal ended in 2022.

The ceremony will be broadcast on July 30 by the Seven Network.
