Haunted Mansion first trailer | Daily Mail Online

The first trailer for Disney’s new Haunted Mansion movie was shared on Tuesday.

Inspired by Disneyland’s famous theme park of the same name, Haunted Mansion is the second edition after the 2003 original, starring Eddie Murphy and Wallace Shawn.

The stars are LaKeith Stanfield, Rosario Dawson, Jamie Lee Curtis, Jared Leto, Winona Ryder, Owen Wilson, Danny DeVito, Dan Levy and Tiffany Haddish.

Dawson plays single mother Gabbie who moves into a beautiful mansion in New Orleans. She is accompanied by her nine-year-old son, played by Chase Dillon.

But then they soon realize that the huge house is filled with creepy ghosts, so they enlist a team of experts to help them get rid of the wacky ghosts.

“These ghosts definitely don’t want to leave,” says one cast member, while another adds, “There are so many bad people in the world, why don’t you chase them?”

The ghosts are wreaking havoc in the old house, just like the famous Disneyland attraction. The team of experts helping her get rid of the ghosts is a motley crew.

There is a paranormal expert (played by Stanfield), a psychic (Haddish), a priest (Wilson), and a historian (DeVito) for help.

In the poster, they can be seen carefully walking up a flight of stairs in the main house while someone carries a lighted lantern.

The online synopsis reads: “A priest, a professor and a paranormal investigator try to help a woman and her family after they unknowingly move into a haunted house in New Orleans.”

And the clever slogan is, “Home is where the meeting point is,” a play on “Home is where the heart is.”

Haunted Mansion will premiere in theaters on July 28, 2023.

Justin Simien directs the comedy from a script by Katie Dippold.

Simien previously revealed at the D23 exhibit that he used to work at the Walt Disney theme park. And he would drive through the Haunted Mansion in the breaks.

He shared, “For me, there was something about that ride that I felt was in the script.

“It was funny and full of interesting characters, but with a dark edge. I just had to deal with it. I felt like I knew how to make it,” he said.

“I love New Orleans and I felt I had a responsibility here to make sure all the little Easter eggs were there,” Simeon continued, according to Deadline.

Actress Jamie appeared on stage at the Disney event along with director Simeon.

She was seen on the ride in one of the famous ‘Doom Buggy’.

Meanwhile, much has been made about Curtis’ character.

She takes on the role of psychic medium Madame Leota.

Hollywood legend Jamie shared the news last year as she simply captioned the Instagram post with the crystal ball emoji, which seemed to confirm the casting.

Production will start in Atlanta and New Orleans in 2021, with the latter city referencing the original attraction set in New Orleans Square.

Although Jamie’s character requires her to look into a crystal ball, the ‘Freaky Friday’ star recently revealed that she avoids looking in the mirror.

The movie star checks her reflection when she performs tasks that require her to do so, but she doesn’t spend much time scrutinizing her appearance because she doesn’t want to be critical of herself.

She said in 2022: ‘When I brush my teeth, of course I look in the mirror. When I pluck my eyebrows, of course I look in the mirror. But when I get out of the shower, I just don’t stare at my body in the mirror. I’m not denying what I look like, of course I’ve seen what I look like. I try to live in acceptance. When I look in the mirror, it’s harder for me to be in acceptance. I am more critical. Whereas, if I just don’t look, I don’t worry too much about it;
