Reacting to the news on X, formerly Twitter, GTA fans quickly expressed a mixture of emotions at the news.
One user posted a screenshot of their own marketing roadmap prediction, which matched Take-Two’s potential release date, as the individual estimated it would be released between November and December 2025.
Another was frustrated by the length of time they would have to wait for the game to release if the date turned out to be correct, writing: “We have two summers before GTA 6.”
Another complained: “It’s hard to wait so long, longer than we expected and even with the announcement they still made us wait to play this.”
A more upbeat gamer seemed to have plans for the release whenever that turned out, as they wrote: “I’m going on vacation for two weeks if this isn’t the case anymore.”

Another user pointed out the time it took to release GTA V on PC, as it only became available to play on the platform in April 2015, almost two years after it was released on console.
They joked, “I can’t wait for this to hit PC in 2035.”
A Take-Two statement accompanying the report said: “As we enter fiscal year 2025 with positive momentum, we expect to achieve net bookings of $5.55 to $5.65 billion. Our outlook reflects a narrowing of Rockstar Games’ previously established timeframe of Calendar 2025 to Fall Calendar 2025 for Grand Theft Auto 6.
“We are confident that Rockstar Games will deliver an unparalleled entertainment experience, and our expectations for the title’s commercial impact continue to grow.”
The company added: “Looking ahead, we believe our business is poised to achieve new levels of success, and we expect sequential growth in net bookings for fiscal years 2025, 2026 and 2027.”
