Has Crown Princess Amalia found her 'Prince Charming'? Dutch magazine links future queen to Spanish-born sculptor who is heir to the defunct Bulgarian throne
Crown Princess Amalia of the Netherlands may have found her Prince Charming, Dutch media report.
Privé, a magazine in the Netherlands, has linked the 20-year-old heir to the throne with Boris of Bulgaria, also known as the Prince of Turnovo.
Spanish-born Boris, 26, is the son of the late Prince Kardam of Turnovo, who died in 2015 at the age of 52.
Now he's been linked to Crown Princess Catharina-Amalia – and the pair were even spotted at the Duchess of Medinaceli's wedding last October.
Boris Saxe-Coburg-Gotha, 26, has been linked by a Dutch magazine to Crown Princess Amalia of the Netherlands, 20
Boris Saxe-Coburg-Gotha was born in Madrid in October 1997, the son of Prince Kardam and Miriam Ungría y López. His father unfortunately died in 2015 and in 2022 his mother remarried, linking Boris to another royal family.
His stepfather is Prince Ghazi bin Muhammad, the nephew of King Abdullah II of Jordan.
In addition to these connections, Boris – especially after the death of his father – also has close ties with the Spanish royal family.
According to Spanish magazine Hello!Boris and the heir to the Dutch throne share a close friendship and he has become one of her most trusted confidants.

The magazine reports that they share a friendship group and spend time together when Amalia visits Madrid, his hometown.
During his studies, Boris spent several years in London, where he obtained a degree in fine arts. His university years coincided with the Covid pandemic, during which time he created a sculpture which he auctioned off in aid of NHS Charities Together – the same association for which Captain Sir Tom Moore raised hundreds of millions of pounds.
In a message accompanying the image, he wrote: 'First of all, I wanted to thank all healthcare workers for their tireless efforts to contain this virus.
'As we start to see restrictions ease and normality return, we are reminded of how this crisis has affected everyone.
“Everyone has seen a change in their lives one way or another or will have to adapt to the times ahead. The healthcare industry has seen the worst side of this pandemic and with this fundraising I want to contribute to their efforts.”
While studying in London, he was accompanied by his mother and also by his brother Beltrán.
Miriam has previously shown that she is proud of her son for finding his own way in life after being born into the Bulgarian royal bloodline.
According to Hola! Boris and Amalia have a lot in common and have known each other for a long time, because their families are friends.
Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands is said to have a good relationship with Margaretha and Simeon of Bulgaria; while Boris's mother Miriam has bonded with Amalia's aunt Mabel after they were both widowed.
In addition, after the death of Prince Kardam, Boris's father, Queen Máxima and King Willem-Alexander of the Netherlands flew to Madrid to attend his funeral.
In October 2023, the couple were pictured arm in arm during the evening celebrations of the Duchess of Medinaceli's wedding in Jerez de la Frontera in Andalusia.
