Fans online criticized Manchester United after their humiliating 7-0 defeat against Liverpool on Sunday night.

The Red Devils were convincingly swept by the hosts of Jurgen Klopp as Cody Gakpo, Darwin Nunez, Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino scored on the night.

The shock result, which has now put a dent in United’s bid for a Champions League place, spawned plenty of amusing memes that were shared online after the match.

One fan took to social media and posted a photo of the popular ‘7Up’ energy drink, with the caption: ‘A bottle of 7up for all Manchester United fans.’

Meanwhile, a well-known account called ‘UberFacts’ asked its followers: ‘Which popular myth would you like people to stop believing?’, to which one fan replied: ‘Man United are back and in a challenge for the qualification’.

Manchester United were humiliatingly beaten 7-0 by Liverpool at Anfield on Saturday night.

It became the biggest defeat Manchester United have suffered since Boxing Day 1931.

Online fans were quick to mock United after the humiliating result at Anfield on Sunday.

Another user wrote: “We passed Len Goodman at Anfield!” and shared a picture of the Strictly Come Dancing judge holding up a score of ‘7’.

Some followers on Twitter used their time to criticize United’s performance, with one asking: ‘Were Man United supposed to be a title contender?’

Another added: ‘Man United back in their box. Has anyone seen Rashford? Casemiro? The little butcher? Gary Neville?

Even Graham Souness after the game joked: ‘Can’t we wait for Gary? [Neville] return?’

The massive 7–0 defeat set a new record for the club and became their worst result since a defeat on Boxing Day 1931.

Gakpo was the star of the show, with Carragher praising the Dutchman for his excellent ‘composure’ pulling off two impressive finishes.

The 24-year-old had snubbed Erik ten Hag’s squad for the Merseyside club last December.

Darwin Nunez had also turned his back on his move to Manchester United last season and fans were also quick to point out that he was the orchestrator of Liverpool’s victory.

One wrote: “There’s something so poetic about both Gakpo and Nunez scoring a brace against the united man after fending them off.”

While the defeat is only the second this year, it will be a devastating blow to Manchester United’s momentum.

It will be the end of their incredible run of 11 games without losing in all competitions, which includes their excellent performances against Barcelona and their victory in the Carabao Cup against Newcastle.

However, the result holds together nine points from Manchester City, who sit second in the Premier League table.
