Harvey Weinstein’s former CT home where he held fundraises for Obama is razed to the ground

Disgraced Hollywood mogul Harvey Weinstein’s former home in Connecticut has been razed to the ground and put on the market for a whopping $21 million.

Weinstein, 71, who is currently incarcerated, hosted many guests at the Beachside Avenue property β€” including hosting fundraisers for Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton β€” before selling the property and adjoining lot in 2018 for $16 million.

He bought 26 Beachside Avenue in 1994 for $4.25 million and purchased the adjacent lot – 28 Beachside Avenue – in 2000 for $4 million. The Hollywood producer sold the properties to English graphic designer Andrew Bentley and his wife Fiona Garland during the height of his sexual assault scandal.

Bentley and Garland razed the Westport property shortly after purchasing the two lots New York Postand are now selling the nearly six-acre lots for a total of $21 million, though each is listed separately.

Bentley, who owns several homes in the upscale neighborhood and was neighbors to the mogul, said he “never met or saw Weinstein,” who was known to often visit the house on weekends with his ex-wife Georgina Chapman and their children.

The graphic designer had initially purchased the property with plans to build a new home, but those ideas never came to life.

When the Colonial-style house was located, it covered nearly 9,000 square feet and had eight bedrooms and ten bathrooms.

Weinstein married Chapman on the property in 2007.

Around the same time, Weinstein unloaded several properties to avoid bankruptcy while viciously fighting the sexual assault allegations in court. He sold a mansion in the Hamptons that he bought in 2014 for more than $11 million – a million less than he bought it for. He also sold another home in Westport, where his mother lived until her death in 2016, for $1.6 million in 2017.

Weinstein unsuccessfully fought the allegations and was sentenced to 39 years in prison. He was sentenced to 23 years in prison in 2020 for crimes in New York. He was also sentenced to 16 years in California in February this year.

After his most recent conviction, Weinstein insisted he was “innocent.”

β€œIt’s incredible to be convicted of a crime I wasn’t even present for. I am innocent. I never raped or assaulted anyone,” Weinstein said in a new statement after the verdict.

Weinstein, who has maintained his innocence, added that the actress “committed perjury at least three times and then sued for money, when she said on the stand she ‘never’ would.” ‘I was never with her. Her whole claims thing was a money making scheme,” he added.

Weinstein was already serving a 23-year sentence on separate New York rape and assault convictions when he was found guilty of rape, forced oral copulation and foreign object sexual penetration of an unnamed Russian-born Italian model.

His latest sentence – which does not begin until he has served his sentence in New York – came after being raped at the Mr. C Beverly Hills Hotel in February 2013.

When the judge revealed his fate on Thursday, Weinstein – who will now almost certainly die behind bars – groaned, “I maintain that I am innocent.

β€œI never raped or sexually assaulted Jane Doe 1. I never knew this woman, and the fact is she doesn’t know me.’

“Please don’t sentence me to life in prison,” he begged Judge Lisa B. Lench, to no avail. ‘I don’t deserve it. There are so many things wrong with this case.’

He will now serve the 16 years in addition to the 21 years left in New York. That would mean Weinstein would be extradited to California to serve out his 16 years behind bars in the state at age 91 β€” if he’s still alive at that age.

If Weinstein made it to the end of his California sentence, he would be released at age 107.
