In a Q&A with her followers, Gemma was asked why she decided not to share that she was pregnant.
Gemma shared a photo of herself cradling her bump while wearing an oversized jumper, replying: ‘To be honest it was a mix of things, some more personal and some less so.
‘I wanted to wait until after a few later scans but thought there was no way I was going to get through the last Love On Tour shows without seeing my stomach, so that would be it… but in the end I managed to hide it and in the end I was like: I think I can make it to the end? And that felt like the right decision for us.”
Gemma was then praised by a follower for ‘looking after’ her daughter’s privacy for the time being.
‘Thanks, I appreciate that!’ she said. “I don’t know if I’ll always feel the same way, but when you provide information online, it’s like… you can’t put the toothpaste back in the tube, you know?
‘I’ve never done this before, I don’t know what she would want and we want to keep her safe and protected.
‘I know a lot of people keep their children’s faces/names/details off social media and there are some good reasons for that, we’ll find out in our own time.’
She added: ‘I really appreciate all the supportive messages to show how we’re doing, it’s so nice that people care – we’re doing well!’
