Harry Potter officially becomes a TV series as Warner Bros makes a huge announcement – but Daniel Radcliffe and his co-stars will NOT be reprising their roles

Exciting news for Harry Potter fans as HBO Max is officially continuing with a TV series of JK Rowling’s hit wizarding book series.

Warner Bros announced on Wednesday that each season of the show will be based on one of the magic books in the franchise.

However, the series will feature an all-new cast from the movies that made Daniel Radcliffe (Harry Potter), Rupert Grint (Ron Weasley) and Emma Watson (Hermione Granger) famous.

The eight Potter films grossed more than £6 billion at the box office between 2001 and 2011.

It comes as HBO Max and Discovery + officially combined into a new service called Max.

JK Rowling said she’s “looking forward” to being part of the new Harry Potter series and delving deeper into the details the movies couldn’t.

The multimillionaire author said, “Max’s dedication to preserving the integrity of my books is important to me.”

“I look forward to being a part of this new edit that will allow for a level of depth and detail only afforded by a feature-length television series”.

Discovery describes the new Harry Potter TV show as a “ten-year series.”

Casey Bloys, Chairman and CEO of HBO & Max Content, said, “We are excited to give audiences the opportunity to discover Hogwarts in a whole new way.”

‘Harry Potter is a cultural phenomenon and it is clear that there is such an enduring love and thirst for the wizarding world.

In partnership with Warner Bros. Television and JK Rowling, this new Max Original series delves deep into each of the iconic books fans have loved over the years.”

Max will produce in association with Brontë Film and TV and Warner Bros. Television.

JK Rowling will executive produce the series with Neil Blair and Ruth Kenley-Letts. David Heyman is currently in talks with executive producer.
