Harry Maguire is OUT of Manchester United’s clash with Leicester due to a knee injury, in another blow for the club captain as he fights for his future at Old Trafford.
- Harry Maguire is not in Erik ten Hag’s Man United squad to face Leicester
- Maguire misses the Premier League clash at Old Trafford with a knee injury
- The Dutchman made five changes since Thursday and dropped Raphael Varane
Harry Maguire will not be in the squad for Sunday afternoon’s game between Manchester United and Leicester City with a knee injury.
The Red Devils host the Foxes at 2pm at Old Trafford, with Erik ten Hag having to make team selections based on their upcoming second leg against Barcelona in the Europa League.
However, he has had to deal with the absence of Maguire, who will not play against Leicester due to a knee problem.
In all, ten Hag made five changes from the team that drew in Spain on Thursday, including removing Raphael Varane from the starting eleven.
Explaining his team selection before the match, ten Hag said: ‘Harry [Maguire] He’s injured and you have to keep everyone cool.

Erik ten Hag explained his five changes since Thursday’s 2-2 draw with Barcelona in Spain
‘You have to look at your opponent, technically what can you do? Where can you beat them? With that approach, one tries to make the best selection, of course.’
Bruno Fernandes took over the role of captain for Man United against the Foxes.
Manchester United will be keen to keep up the Champions League places after Newcastle United lost and Manchester City drew in Saturday’s games.
Maguire has a contract at Old Trafford until the summer of 2025 but will probably move on
Last week Sportsmail reported that Man United expect to lose £40m on Maguire if he moves this summer, four years after his £80m move from Leicester to Old Trafford.
However, it is believed that it is in both parties’ interest that Maguire seek to further his career elsewhere, having fallen out of favor with the new management.
The 29-year-old has only made five Premier League starts under ten Hag this season, most recently against Leeds United, and the Dutch manager favors Varane, Lisandro Martinez and Luke Shaw as central defender.
Maguire has a contract with Man United until the summer of 2025, but it is believed that he will seek regular first-team football to ensure his viability for the England centre-back role.
