Harry Kane’s three children had a ‘very lucky escape’ from horror car smash that saw the air ambulance scrambled amid fears of ‘serious injuries’, fire chief reveals: England captain says his family are ‘fine’ after car ploughed into van carrying them

A fire chief said those involved in a horror car crash in Germany that sent three of Harry Kane’s children to hospital were “very lucky” not to be seriously injured in the collision.

The England captain’s children, Louis, three, Vivienne, five, and Ivy, seven, were all traveling in a Mercedes van when it collided with a Renault near Schäftlarn in Munich on Monday afternoon.

They were taken by ambulance to a nearby hospital for evaluation and were not seriously injured. Kane’s wife Kate and fourth child, Henry, born in August, are not believed to have been in the van.

A spokesperson for Kane has said his family are doing ‘fine’ following the crash, with the air ambulance rushing to fly people injured in the crash to hospital – as police said all involved had ‘minor injuries’ incurred.

Daniel Buck, Hohenschäftlarn’s volunteer fire chief, told BBC News that all the cars had “a lot of damage” and the first thing they saw “were a lot of injuries from all the cars.”

He said there was good news as “no one had any really serious injuries, more minor injuries,” such as neck pain that often results from a car accident.

“Thank God no one was really hurt,” he added. “It was really fortunate for all the people.”

The incident is said to have taken place in Bavaria, near where Kane plays for Bayern Munich, when the 30-year-old striker flew to London with his team ahead of their Champions League match against Arsenal.

The accident occurred at 5:15 p.m. on Monday, when the car collided with the oncoming van carrying the children as it attempted to enter the highway exit, German media reported. Image reports.

“There was a crash but the children are fine and no one was injured,” a spokesperson for Kane told Mail Sport.

‘No injuries at all. They went to the hospital for a routine check-up.”

Bild reported that the Renault was driven by a 20-year-old woman, who was traveling with a three-year-old child and two adults aged 43 and 48.

Meanwhile, a 24-year-old German woman was behind the wheel of the Mercedes van.

The crash caused the Renault to skid on the road and collide with a Land Rover driven by a 62-year-old woman before coming to a stop.

Police told Bild that all eight occupants of the vehicles suffered minor injuries as a result of the accident and were taken to hospital by ambulance. A woman was taken to hospital by helicopter.

The incident took place on Monday afternoon in the Munich district, near the A95

Photos from the scene show the Mercedes van’s bonnet collapsed from the impact of the crash. Emergency services had spread sand over the road to absorb the car oil released during the collision.

The impact of the crash deployed the van’s airbags.

The right front of the Renault’s bonnet showed significant signs of damage from the impact and the wheel on that side of the car was off its axle.

Several emergency services can be seen at the scene after the crash, with photos of four ambulances and two fire trucks attending along with firefighters.

The accident blocked the exit to the A95 motorway as it was being handled by authorities.

Munich police said in a statement: ‘On Monday, April 8, 2024, around 5:15 p.m., a 20-year-old Munich resident was driving a Renault car on federal road 2071 towards the A95.

‘A 48-year-old, a 43-year-old and a three-year-old (all living in Munich) were also passengers in the 20-year-old’s car.

‘At the same time, a 24-year-old resident of the Munich district was also driving a Mercedes car on Federal Road 2071 in the opposite direction.

“There were three children between the ages of five and seven in the 24-year-old’s vehicle (all of whom lived in the Munich area).”

The statement further states: ‘At the intersection with the A95, the 20-year-old wanted to turn left onto the highway entrance. The 20-year-old’s car collided with the 24-year-old’s oncoming car.

‘As a result, the 20-year-old’s car started to skid and collided with another Land Rover car of a 62-year-old who lives in the Munich district and was on the exit ramp of the A95 motorway.

‘All occupants of the vehicles involved suffered minor injuries as a result of the collision. They were taken to hospitals by helicopter and emergency services, among other things. The 62-year-old went to the doctor himself.

‘There was material damage worth tens of thousands of euros.’

All eight passengers from the three vehicles involved suffered minor injuries as a result of the collision and were taken to local hospitals for treatment.

By the time the crash occurred, Kane had just landed in London ahead of the first leg of Bayern’s quarter-final against Arsenal.

Kane made his first club appearance in England since leaving Spurs for Bayern in the summer in a £100 million deal, scoring his side’s second goal in a 2–2 draw.
