Harry Kane’s landmark 100th England cap will be celebrated with a special pre-match ceremony… with the Three Lions captain to receive a golden cap ahead of kick-off against Finland
England captain Harry Kane is set to play his 100th international match for the Three Lions when they take on Finland at Wembley Stadium on Tuesday night.
Kane becomes the first England player to reach the milestone since Wayne Rooney, who reached 100 caps in November 2014.
He becomes only the tenth player to reach this milestone in England’s history, with Peter Shilton leading the list with 125 caps.
The Football Association has confirmed that Kane’s achievement will be celebrated with a unique presentation ahead of the England v Finland match.
In a statement, the governing body wrote: “The FA will pay tribute ahead of the UEFA Nations League match with a special pre-match ceremony, which will include the presentation of a golden cap.”

There will also be a tribute before the match to former Three Lions manager Sven-Goran Eriksson, who died last month at the age of 76.
Kane made his international debut in March 2015, under Roy Hodgson, finding the net after just 79 seconds.
In the next 98 games he scored a further 65 goals and is the England men’s all-time top scorer.
In March 2023, he surpassed Rooney’s total of 53 when he found the net from a penalty against Italy.
Kane became captain of the Three Lions before the 2018 World Cup under Gareth Southgate, where he finished top scorer with six goals.
During his nine years in England colours, the striker played in five major tournaments and captained the country to its first two major international finals since 1966.
He has played in more competitive international matches than any other England player in history, and when he captains the team against Finland it will be the 45th different nation he has faced.
Kane is currently 31 years old, but ahead of England’s victory over Ireland, he indicated he wants to lead his country to the 2024 World Cup.

He is aiming to follow in the footsteps of Cristiano Ronaldo after the Portuguese forward scored his 900th career goal last week by netting the winning goal against Scotland in the final minute on Sunday night.
Much was made of Kane’s performances at Euro 2024 and he was caught before the end of the match in the final against Spain, which England lost 2-1.
After Cristiano Ronaldo’s 900th goal in the sport, Kane wants to show that he can continue playing at the highest international level.
“Cristiano shows that every week, every time he plays, every time he scores, so from my point of view that’s the goal,” Kane said. “I want to play for England as long as possible.”
‘I’m sure there will be noise around me, just like there is around Cristiano, but as long as you keep performing and keep doing what you know you can do, that’s all you can do.’
In terms of form, Kane believes he is not the only player who struggled during the summer.
“There was a lot of talk about me and my fitness during the European Championships, but I felt in good shape,” said Kane.
‘Did the games go as well as I wanted? No, not really, but I think there were a lot of us who underperformed individually.
‘We’ve done incredibly well to get to where we are today, and I think that’s largely down to our team spirit and the cohesion we’ve developed over the years.

“Sometimes when things don’t go your way, there’s always something to look for and blame.”
Kane needs to make 27 more appearances for his country if he is to break Shilton’s record, while he needs 22 more to beat former captain Rooney, who made 120.
