Harry Kane trains away from the England squad despite being passed fit upcoming Nations League double-header against Greece and Finland – as interim boss Lee Carsley sweats over captain’s fitness

England captain Harry Kane did not train with the rest of the squad on Tuesday morning as he recovers from an injury.

Kane limped out of Bayern Munich’s 3-3 draw with Eintracht Frankfurt on Sunday, but traveled straight to St George’s Park, where he was deemed fit by England’s medical staff on Monday evening.

However, the 31-year-old striker has been training indoors on an individualized program as he takes part in a race to get fit for Thursday night’s Nations League match against Greece at Wembley.

All 21 other players who trained under interim boss Lee Carsley are preparing for the double-header, with a trip to Finland scheduled for Sunday.

Ezri Konsa, Morgan Gibbs-White and Kobbie Mainoo withdrew from the squad on Monday due to injuries sustained at their clubs this weekend.

Kane’s absence is a concern for Carsley, who opted not to call up replacements for the three players left out of the squad.

It is the second injury the England captain has suffered in a matter of weeks, after doubting whether he would face Aston Villa in the Champions League last week before completing the 90 minutes.

If Kane is forced to miss the Three Lions’ Nations League meeting with Greece, Carsley could call on both Dominic Solanke and Ollie Watkins.

Solanke has returned to England after a seven-year absence due to his strong start to the season at his new club Tottenham.

The forward has scored three times for Ange Postecoglou’s side since his £65million move from Bournemouth in the summer.

With Kane missing training, Solanke’s chances of making his first appearance since his debut in November 2017 have soared. If he is called up to play, it will be the longest gap between England caps since Ian Walker (February 1997-June 2004).

Speaking about Solanke’s inclusion, Carsley said: ‘Dom is a player I am fully aware of having worked with in the past.

‘He was very close to the last selection, but got injured just before the selection. He did so well at Bournemouth and now he has replicated that form at Spurs.

‘He has a lot of good qualities that I really like, and he is also a very nice person. He is extremely talented and it is good that we have him.’

Eberechi Eze, Harry Maguire, Tino Livramento and Jarrod Bowen were the four casualties in Carsley’s latest team.

Meanwhile, there were doubts over Noni Madueke’s fitness after he suffered a foot injury against Nottingham Forest last weekend. However, he has been declared fit and admitted to training.
