England manager Gareth Southgate has confirmed that captain Harry Kane will miss the friendly against Brazil at Wembley on Saturday evening.

Kane is nursing an ankle injury, with Southgate admitting he is ‘extremely doubtful’ to feature in their second friendly against Belgium.

Jordan Henderson and Cole Palmer will also miss tomorrow’s high-profile Wembley friendly against Brazil.

“No Harry Kane, no Jordan Henderson and no Cole Palmer tomorrow,” said Southgate.

‘I would say that Cole and Hendo have a better chance in Belgium than Harry.

“He would be extremely doubtful about that.”

Kane suffered an ankle injury while playing for Bayern Munich last Saturday after crashing into a goalpost during his side’s win over Darmstadt.

Kane has missed parts of training this week and will be treated at St George’s Park on Monday after a scan.

Southgate is expected to turn to Ivan Toney or Ollie Watkins to play as England’s central striker.

The Three Lions boss will also be without Bukayo Saka, who left the England camp with an injury.

Southgate admitted that the injury setbacks provide an opportunity for other members of the squad.

“It’s a brilliant opportunity for other players,” said Southgate.

‘We have to see them before the euro. From our perspective, it’s a great exercise and opportunity.”
