Harry Kane has broken another Bundesliga record after scoring his latest brace on Saturday.
The England captain gave the German side an advantage as they beat Frankfurt 2-1 in the Bundesliga to consolidate their hold on second place in the division.
Kane has now scored 42 goals in all competitions in 42 games this season after joining Germany from Tottenham last summer on a £100million contract.
He was one of the few success stories for Bayern in a season that saw them sack their manager for the first time in 12 years and lose the Bundesliga title. However, fans have started a petition to allow Thomas Tuchel to stay.
Kane, meanwhile, is in a class of his own and proved that again on Saturday when he broke two more records, including a personal achievement.
Harry Kane broke another Bundesliga record after scoring a brace in Bayern Munich’s win over Frankfurt
The forward has had a successful debut season with Bayern Munich despite his side’s general problems
Kane won the Golden Boot in the Bundesliga and has scored 35 goals this season
The forward’s two goals took him to his highest ever goal tally in a season, surpassing the 41 he scored for Tottenham in the 2017/18 season.
He has also passed 400 career goals as he looks to continue his form into the European Championships with England this summer.
But before that he still has the Champions League to fight for as he looks to win his first ever career trophy.
Kane and Bayern Munich meet Real Madrid in the first leg of their semi-final in Munich on Tuesday evening.
The Bundesliga record that Kane broke was that he became the first player to score or assist against any team in the Bundesliga in a debut season.
According to BILKane will receive a £218,000 bonus for his goalscoring efforts after scoring 40 goals.
In the Bundesliga, Kane has scored 35 goals in 31 games and is on the verge of walking away with the Golden Boot, ten ahead of Stuttgart’s Serhou Guirassy, who comes in second.
He is now six shy of the all-time record for goals in a Bundesliga season, with the help of former Bayern striker Robert Lewandowski. He still has three games to go to break the record.
Kane’s season was helped by the arrival of former Tottenham teammate Eric Dier (second from right) in January
Outgoing Bayern Munich manager Thomas Tuchel (pictured) has sung Dier’s praises
Kane’s season has been helped somewhat by the arrival of former Tottenham teammate Eric Dier in January.
The outgoing Tuchel was one of Dier’s top defenders after fans questioned his arrival, and once again spoke highly of the ex-England forward ahead of the match against Frankfurt.
‘Eric Dier has been an excellent asset. “I’m very happy with him,” he said. “He has absolutely exceeded expectations.
‘He is an extremely important piece of the puzzle. He’s organized and vocal, which we haven’t had very often. I’m very happy.’
