It was one of those nights for Harry Kane. The Englishman has been excellent since moving to Germany but could not get on the scoresheet on Tuesday evening as Bayern Munich survived an early scare to beat FC Copenhagen 2-1 in their second Champions League match of the season.
After a crunch affair with Manchester United in their opening Group A match, the Bavarian giants had to dig deep again to see off the plucky Danes.
The first half provided little excitement, with neither side managing to break the deadlock, but ten minutes into the second stanza, FC Copenhagen took the lead thanks to a neat brace from midfielder Lukas Leager.
Bayern would respond quickly and Jamal Musiala wriggled free from his man 12 minutes later and fired the ball into the back of the net from the edge of the penalty area.
The Bundesliga champions then turned up the pressure as they hunted for a winner.
Mathys Tel grabbed the all-important goal when he grabbed a pass from assist king Thomas Muller in the 83rd minute and finished from close range.
The goal came as a major relief for Bayern, who were unable to release their star striker all evening after being taken out of the match by Copenhagen.
It’s no surprise that Kane was targeted. The 29-year-old is on fire for Bayern.
