Harry Kane beamed as he praised Bayern Munich’s ‘incredible win’ over Arsenal in the Champions League.

Joshua Kimmich headed home in the second half to send Bayern Munich roaring into the semi-final with a 3-2 aggregate victory – and Arsenal rushed back to London with their tail between their legs.

It was a particularly special night for Kane and Eric Dier, who had the pleasure of breaking the hearts of Tottenham’s arch-enemy Arsenal.

‘[It was] an incredible victory. It’s been a tough season for us,” Kane told TNT Sports.

‘Sometimes we had to fight for it and fight it out. We knew we could make a difference with our fans at home.

‘It was a tough match, an exciting match. It was a great goal from Josh [Kimmich]. Reaching the semi-finals is a great achievement for us and we can enjoy that.

‘I think that in these types of matches the first half is always a bit reserved. We said at halftime that we wanted to increase the pace and be aggressive. We had a few from the post and could have made it easier on ourselves, but these games are always tough and you just have to get through it.

‘The expectation here is that we try to win the Champions League.

‘We’ve won the league 11 years in a row, so maybe there was a bit of a lack of pace [as we didn’t win it this year]. That can’t happen. Now we have to enjoy the Champions League and prepare for Saturday.”

The Champions League represents Kane’s last chance at a trophy in his first season at Bayern Munich.

Bayer Leverkusen won the Bundesliga, breaking Bayern’s eleven-year stranglehold on the competition.

Bayern was also eliminated from the DFB-Pokal by third division Saarbrücken.

They will face Real Madrid in the semi-finals of the Champions League.
