Harry Kane receives LOWEST grade possible in Bild’s brutal player ratings after Bayern Munich’s disappointing defeat against Lazio… days after German media labelled England captain’s performance against Bayer Leverkusen as a ‘CATASTROPHE’
Harry Kane and his Bayern Munich teammates were given brutally low player ratings after their defeat to Lazio on Wednesday evening.
The German giants were beaten 1-0 at Lazio in the first leg of the last 16 of the Champions League, with defender Dayot Upamecano shown a straight red card in the second half.
Despite seventeen shots in the match, Bayern failed to make a single attempt on target and were left frustrated after the Italian side’s impressive defensive display.
England captain Kane struggled to assert himself in the match and was criticized by the German media after the match for his calm performance in front of goal.
In Bilds player ratings, former Tottenham star Kane was given a ‘6’ – with 1 being their best rating and 6 being their worst – after his dismal performance.

Describing Kane’s performance, the outlet wrote: ‘Missed a mega opportunity after seven minutes, but after that he could no longer connect with Bayern’s attacking attempts at all. Completely signed off in the second half’.
The only other player to receive a ‘6’ was centre-back Upamecano, who was sent off for a rash challenge in the 67th minute.
For the Frenchman they said: ‘Clean for rest. But in the 67th minute his red penalty foul caused the debacle.’
Elsewhere, Leon Goretzka, Leroy Sane and manager Thomas Tuchel were all rated ‘5’ as Bild continued to push into Bayern’s squad.
Goalkeeper Manuel Neuer and playmaker Jamal Musiala received the highest ratings of the entire team, as they left the match with a ‘3’.
After the match, Kane himself admitted that the Bavarian giants have not been good enough given their struggles both domestically and in Europe.
The result came four days after they were convincingly outplayed by Bayer Leverkusen in the Bundesliga in a 3-0 defeat – a result that left them five points behind their rivals in the German top flight.
The striker thought TNT Sports after the match and said: ‘Really tough week. We started well in the first half and had clear opportunities, one for myself. These games are big moments.
‘The second half was disappointing. We came out with less energy and less self-confidence. We were punished. Once you go back to 10 men, it’s always difficult.
‘We have to find it among ourselves. We are still in the race for the Bundesliga and still have a draw. We must keep fighting.
‘We are in a difficult period. We have to fight. We have to turn it around. We have big games and big things to fight for. We haven’t figured it out yet, we will never give up. We just have to turn it around. One play or spark can turn it around.”
Bayern now go into the second leg against Italy with a mountain to climb
The pressure on Bayern boss Thomas Tuchel is increasing, given the defeats in two crucial matches
Just days earlier, the German media attacked Kane following Bayern’s 3-0 defeat to Bundesliga title rivals Bayer Leverkusen last Saturday.
Tuchel’s side went into the crucial clash just two points clear of their Bundesliga title rivals.
However, Bayern had a disastrous evening as they went down thanks to goals by Josip Stanisic, Alejandro Grimaldo and Jeremy Frimpong. To make matters worse, Stanisic is currently on loan to Leverkusen from Bayern.
After the game, several Bayern stars came under fire from the German media, including Kane.
German outlet BILD labeled his actions a “catastrophe,” while an article headline read: “The Kane Disaster.”
It went on to say: ‘He was actually brought in for games like this’, before later saying: ‘Harry Kane and his worst game in a Bayern jersey.’
In total, the England captain took just 18 touches in the 90 minutes and scored once, while Bayern achieved an xG of 0.27 despite having 62 percent of the ball.
Bild’s report further criticized Kane for his inefficiency against Leverkusen’s defenders as he highlighted how Alonso’s side deserved the win, with Tuchel complaining about his team’s ‘lack of strength up front’.
It continued: “Kane wasn’t in the game at all. No goal, no assist – BILD rating 6!
The outlet also ripped into Kane after his Bayern side were hammered 3-0 by Bundesliga title rivals Bayer Leverkusen last Saturday
Not only were the German team criticized by their own national media after the defeat to Lazio, but they were also criticized for playing like ‘individuals’ by Jamie Carragher.
Asked whether the performance and result will affect their chances of winning the competition, Carragher told CBS Sports: “I think so.”
He added: ‘I said before the match: Bayern Munich for me is a team of individuals, and not a team at the moment. You see the face of the manager, Thomas Tuchel, he will be under enormous pressure.
‘And considering what happened against Bayer Leverkusen, a very poor performance. We saw the same thing again. They missed chances, that man (Kane) should have given Bayern Munich the lead in the first half.
