Harry Kane has scored 54 goals in 53 appearances for Bayern Munich since joining from Tottenham last summer, signing a contract worth around £100 million.
However, former Bayern Munich midfielder Dietmar Hamann – who also played in the Premier League with Newcastle, Liverpool, Bolton and Man City – is still ‘sceptical’ about the 31-year-old.
Kane has scored ten goals in eight Bayern games this season. Four of them came in a 9-2 victory over Dinamo Zagreb. He hit a hat-trick in a 6–1 win over Holstein Kiel. Kane also scored against SSV Ulm, Freiburg and Werder Bremen.
But Kane could not find the net in Wednesday’s 1-0 defeat to Aston Villa in the Champions League, having also scored zero in a 1-1 draw against Bundesliga title rivals Bayer Leverkusen four days earlier.
In a column for Heaven Germany Published after Bayern’s loss to Villa, Hamann suggested the jury was still out on Kane and the England captain needed to do more against higher opposition to prove himself as a good signing.

“Harry Kane had a personally sobering evening in Birmingham – defeat aside,” Hamann wrote. ‘I said after the European Championship in the summer that he still has to prove that he is worth 100 million – even though he scored more than thirty goals last year.’
‘He wasn’t brought in to score a hat-trick against Darmstadt. He was used to score against Leverkusen and Aston Villa and to score in the quarter-finals of the Champions League. He hasn’t done that yet. I remain skeptical about the star striker.’
Kane scored 10 goals in 12 Champions League games for Bayern last season as the German giants reached the semi-finals before losing to Real Madrid.
Despite Kane ending the 2023/24 season with 43 goals in 44 games in all competitions, Bayern failed to win a trophy for the first time since the 2011/2012 season.
Kane has never won a team trophy during his senior career. But Bayern is currently at the top of the Bundesliga after five rounds.
