Harry Kane insists Tottenham are trying to ‘look ahead’ after Antonio Conte’s departure
‘He had his opinion’: Harry Kane insists Tottenham are trying to ‘look ahead’ after Antonio Conte’s departure and claims ’emotions were high’ during the Italian’s tirade after Southampton’s draw
Harry Kane has admitted that he and the Tottenham Hotspur players do not want to look to the past following Antonio Conte’s sacking.
Conte left Spurs on March 26 after an extraordinary diatribe aimed at his players in the club hierarchy.
He has been succeeded, at least temporarily, by former assistant Cristian Stellini, but it is clear that Spurs will soon be looking for a permanent manager.
Kane was asked about the Italian’s departure from Sky Sports ahead of his side’s game against Everton on Monday, insisting he wanted to look forward rather than backward.
“He had his opinion on the matter and it was obviously an emotional moment after a disappointing end to that game,” he said of Conte’s tirade after the 3-3 draw with Southampton.

“I don’t want to go into it too much. We are focused on getting to the top four.
“We can’t look to the past, we have to start now and look at the games ahead and that’s what we’ll try to do.”
Tottenham Hotspur are fifth in the Premier League and are still chasing a place in the Champions League despite their inconsistent form under Conte.

Meanwhile, it has emerged that Daniel Levy and Conte considered signing Cristiano Ronaldo last year before finally deciding against a move to the then Manchester United star.
Sports emails Ian Ladyman has revealed that Tottenham were one of the clubs that thought about it when Ronaldo tried to leave United.
Levy often sits at the coach’s table in the cafeteria on the Spurs training ground, and this is where the informal conversations took place.
