‘It’s going to be a lot of hard work, but it’s something I’d love to do’: Harry Kane confirms his desire to be an NFL kicker as he appears on New York’s Good Morning America
Tottenham Hotspur superstar Harry Kane has reiterated his interest in attempting to become an NFL kicker.
The 29-year-old has long expressed a desire to pursue the left field career once he hangs up the football boots.
Speaking to Pro Football Hall of Famer Michael Strahan on GMA Wednesday, Kane said it was a future worth looking into.
“It’s something I definitely want to explore,” Kane remarked. “I know it will be very hard work; I don’t expect to just walk up front and start kicking field goals.
“It will be a lot of practice, a lot of hard work, but yeah, it’s something I’d like to do. I’ve been following the NFL for about 10 years now and I love it. So I’d like to try it.’

Kane has attended several NFL London games over the years, including the Vikings vs. 2022 Saints thriller at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
England’s all-time top goalscorer is a big fan of Tom Brady and was even on hand to witness the Patriots vs. the LA Rams in Super Bowl LIII.
‘That is real. Something I definitely want to try in 10 or 12 years,” Kane said in 2019 via ESPN about his willingness to try kicking.
“It goes back to that drive to be the best,” he says. “Even if I download a game on my phone, can I be the best in the world?”
“If you play in the Premier League and the World Cup and then you play in the NFL, would you be considered one of the greatest athletes of all time?”
Hall of Fame placekicker Morten Andersen provided context on Kane’s dreams in the months following Kane’s shooting that year.

“The initial trajectory of the ball means they struggle to get the ball up,” he told Mail Sport.
“I’m not saying Harry Kane can’t do it, and I don’t think it’s ridiculous, but before we start crowning him the best kicker in the world, let’s explore that first.
“I think he needs to put on a different hat mentally – and first of all, different gear! Remember he puts on shorts and a shirt, not pads and a helmet.
“It changes things, the precision with which you have to play the ball under a lot of pressure in a very short time – the whole timing aspect, there’s skill involved.”
