Harry Judd’s mum Emma has admitted she feels ’empty’ because she can’t spend enough time with her son in his busy life.
Drummer Harry, 37, is a member of pop band McFly and combines his music career with being a husband to Izzy, 39, and their three children Lola, seven, Kit, five, and 23-month-old Lockie.
But during their appearance on Celebrity Race Across The World, which they are taking part in together, Emma Judd, 63, reflected on her relationship with her son and complained that she ‘can’t really talk to you’ because he is always in a hurry. .
She also noted how hard it was for her to see Harry leave home at the age of 17 to start his big music career, admitting that it “broke her heart” because she “missed” him so much.
However, Harry opened up about how he hoped the trip would change things as he specifically chose his mother to accompany him so they could spend quality time together.

As they began their journey in Marrakech, Morocco with the series starting on Wednesday, Emma looked back on the time her son left home as a teenager and commented: ‘It broke my heart if I’m honest, I missed you terribly. ‘
With Strictly Come Dancing Champion Harry adding: ‘We haven’t spent a long time together since I was 17.’
Emma then reflected that their lack of time together still affects her and now leaves her “empty,” as she explained: “And now, when we’re with the kids, it’s always like we’ve just made a cup of coffee and we start talking and then there’s “oh no, sorry mom” or “I have to go” so I always feel pretty empty.
“I can’t really talk to you, I feel like I haven’t had that chance in a while.”
Harry grew up in Chelmsford, Essex and is the youngest child of Emma and her husband Christopher Judd.
In addition to reconnecting with his mother, Harry explained that the reason he is taking part in the BBC show is because he never got the chance to travel independently when he was younger during his duties at McFly.
He said: ‘I never traveled when I was younger. I traveled with the band, but I never really did backpacking and I always wanted to.
‘I think the same goes for my mother; She always wanted that, but she started a family at the age of 22.’

To which Emma agreed, saying: ‘Yes, I was young and one thing I think I missed in my life – not that I regret it – was actually backpacking and going on adventures like this.
“So when Harry got the chance to come over, I thought, what could be better than going on an adventure with my son?”
Celebrity Race Across The World sees famous faces and their loved ones traveling from Morocco to Norway without technology and on a budget.
They will make the journey through 24 countries and 10,000 km to reach Tromsø in Norway.
