“I think he’s down, get the officer!” Louisville police release bodycam footage of 25-year-old gunman’s bank disaster, in which he killed five colleagues after being fired
Dramatic CCTV footage shows the moment a 25-year-old disgruntled employee opened fire on a rookie cop.
Police released more than six minutes of CCTV footage of the Old National Bank shooting at a news conference on Tuesday, detailing the Louisville Metro Police Department’s quick response to the massacre.
The video shows the shooter, Connor Sturgeon, pointing his shotgun directly at rookie officer Nicholas Wilt, as frantic officers tried to spot the shooter as Sturgeon took advantage of his higher ground to fire on the officers below.
Sturgeon was said to have been suicidal and was seen waiting for police to arrive in a live stream of the attack that he posted to Instagram.
He was pronounced dead at the scene, but only after killing five of his colleagues and wounding eight others.
Connor Sturgeon, 25, was identified Monday morning as the lone gunman in an attack on the Old National Bank that killed five people and injured eight others. Surveillance footage shows him dressed casually while holding an AR-15

Footage released on Tuesday shows the officers bravely moving to the Old National Bank crime scene as at least three gunshots were heard.
Officer Wilt, who had just completed his ten-day job with the police force, immediately ran up the steps outside the bank.
“We fired shots,” he radioed.
It then cuts to footage from Officer Galloway’s body camera, which shows him running up the stairs at the bank and is immediately shot at.
The impact of the gunfire shot the officer backward, but that didn’t seem to stop Galloway, who got up and ran back down the stairs.
After taking cover, two more shots were heard before Galloway cursed and said, “The shooter has a crush on that officer.”
“I don’t know where he is, the glass is blocking him,” Galloway adds.
As Galloway tries to catch his breath, police and ambulances could be heard arriving at the scene.
“He’s shooting right through these windows straight at the officer,” Galloway says off-screen to another officer moments later.
Soon another barrage of gunfire was heard as Galloway exclaimed that he had no sight of the gunman.
But in the end, Galloway says, “I think he’s down. Suspect down, fetch the officer.’
It remains unclear who shot and killed Sturgeon.
Officials said at a news conference that no one else was shot after police arrived at the scene around 8:41 a.m. Monday.
