A distressed woman called 911 in the middle of the night to admit she had shot her roommate in Ohio, telling dispatchers that “he’s been attacking me all night.”
The harrowing call, made at 1:57 a.m. Wednesday, brought emergency services to the scene at 351 Bassett Road in Bay Village in suburban Cleveland.
The woman, Erica Wandzel, 47, can be heard on the early morning call saying, “I just shot my roommate, he’s been attacking me all night.”
“Is he breathing?” the dispatcher asked before the caller became increasingly emotional, her tone becoming higher pitched and her breathing becoming faster.

The home at 351 Bassett Road in Bay Village where Erica Wandzel, 47, said she shot her roommate in the early morning hours of Wednesday, Oct. 9
“I don’t know,” she said, “I left because I was afraid he would try to get the gun.”
Wandzel told the dispatcher she had left the house and was “trying to get to my neighbor’s house.”
Emergency responders arrived on the scene minutes later and pronounced her roommate, Anthony Hein, dead.
It is unclear how long Hein and Wandzel have been roommates.
Wandzel was then assessed by emergency medical personnel before being taken into police custody.
Her current status remains unknown.

Bay Village police closed the home and the nearby intersection of Bassett Road and Winsor Drive as part of the investigation.
Police released a statement notifying motorists of the ongoing investigation and warning them of blocked access to the nearby area.
‘Due to the investigation on Bassett Road, police have blocked access to the area of Bassett Road between Lake Road and Winsor Drive. The area is safe, but is closed due to the large number of emergency responders on site. Please avoid the area and seek alternative travel routes,” the statement read.
