Harrison Ford recalls the time Jimmy Buffett inspired him to get his ear pierced after they enjoyed a ‘boozy’ lunch as he pays tribute to late star

Harrison Ford told how Jimmy Buffett, who died in September, inspired him to pierce his ear during a tribute in Los Angeles on Saturday.

The 81-year-old actor took the stage at the Hollywood Bowl on Friday during a concert called Keep the Party Going: A Tribute to Jimmy Buffett.

“I remember a long – some might say ‘drunk’ – lunch with Jimmy and Ed Bradley, and it was Bradley’s birthday. I noticed they both had earrings. So right after lunch I got my ear pierced,” Ford recalled with fondness.

“That’s how infectious Jimmy’s calm is – infectious enough for a 40-year-old man to spontaneously get his ear pierced,” he added.

The Indiana Jones star shared the anecdote before introducing the Zac Brown Band.

Harrison also noted that his late friend, who died at the age of 76, was “infectious” enough to “create an entire culture around his music.”

“There’s no other way to say it: There will never be anyone else like Jimmy,” the old Hollywood leading man said.

Of his friend, he added: “He was nice. He was loved by his family, by his friends, by his band, his crew and his collaborators, and he loved them all back.”

Paul McCartney, The Eagles, Bon Jovi, Dave Grohl, Jon Bon Jovi and more showed up to perform at the memorial concert.

Jane Fonda and Woody Harrelson also appeared on stage to share comments.

Joining Ford at the star-studded celebration of Jimmy’s life was his longtime wife Calista Flockhart, 59.

They met at the 2002 Golden Globe Awards, married in 2010 and share son who Calista adopted, Liam Flockhart Ford, 22, in 2001.

Last week it was announced that Harrison will appear in the upcoming film Captain America: Brave New World.

The film’s trailer debuted at CinemaCon in Las Vegas.

In the teaser, President Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross (Ford) is the target of an assassination attempt that is foiled by Captain America/Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie).

In the clip, President Ross told Wilson, “I want Captain America to help me rebuild the Avengers.”

Ford previously starred as Commander in Chief as President James Marshall in the 1997 action film Air Force One.
