Harrison Ford Plays Mentor Figure To Jason Segel In Trailer For Upcoming Comedy Series Shrinking

Harrison Ford played a mentor figure to a grieving therapist played by Jason Segel in a trailer for the upcoming Apple TV+ comedy series Shrinking.

The 80-year-old actor plays Dr. Paul Rhodes opposite Jason, 43, who plays therapist Jimmy Laird in the new series produced by Warner Bros. Television.

“Are you going to burn down your career and take me with you?” Paul asked at the start of the recently released trailer.

‘Coin toss?’ Jimmy replied.

“Get out of here,” Paul told him.

Jimmy started to leave before turning around and saying, ‘Wait, this is my office.

“It took you longer than it should have,” Paul observed.

Reversed answer: ‘Coin toss?’ Jimmy responded after being asked by Paul about his career change.

The trailer featured a sign outside the Cognitive Behavioral Therapy Center followed by clips of Jimmy falling asleep during therapy sessions with clients.

‘Well, how does that make you feel?’ he asked a customer after falling asleep.

Jimmy was then shown in the middle of the night by his pool admitting to his complaining neighbor that he was taking painkillers.

Sleep: ‘Okay, how does that make you feel?’ she asked a client after falling asleep.

Paul surprised Jimmy in his office and admitted that he was worried about him.

“I’ve been grieving,” Jimmy admitted.

“You’ve been getting sleepy,” Paul told him.

Taking painkillers: Jimmy was then shown in the middle of the night by his pool admitting to his complaining neighbor that he was taking painkillers.

Jimmy listened as a patient told him how his partner “just went on and on about how dumb I am, but he loves me.”

She slammed down her note and blurted out, ‘Your husband is emotionally abusive. He is not working on it. He has no intention of doing it. He just let it.

“Okay,” his client replied.

Jimmy then stated that he could help people more if he dirty his ‘hands a little more’.

Paul in the trailer also spoke to Jimmy’s teenage daughter, Alice. [Lukita Maxwell].

‘No one gets out of this life unscathed. You are faced with a choice. Are you going to let your pain drown you? Or are you going to come face it, to go through the other side?’ she asked him.

A description of the film read: “Shrinking follows a grieving therapist (played by Segel) who begins to break the rules and tells his clients exactly what’s on his mind. Ignoring his training and ethics, he finds himself making huge and tumultuous changes.” in people’s lives… including yours.

Jason is also a co-creator and executive producer of the series along with Bill Lawrence and Brett Goldstein.

Bill is a co-creator of Ted Lasso and Brett is a writer for Ted Lasso and also stars as footballer Roy Kent.

Shrinking also stars Christa Miller, Jessica Williams, Michael Urie, and Luke Tennie.

Bill has an overall deal with Warner Bros. Television, and Shrinking will be his third project with Apple after Ted Lasso and the upcoming drama series Bad Monkey.

Shrinking will premiere with its first two episodes on January 27 on the Apple TV+ streaming service.

Multiple Roles: Jason is also a co-creator and executive producer of the series along with Bill Lawrence and Brett Goldstein.
