Harrison Ford, 80, pilots private jet to LA to celebrate wife Calista Flockhart’s 58th birthday

Harrison Ford is celebrating the 58th birthday of his wife, Calista Flockhart, in style by piloting one of his swanky private jets to Los Angeles on Friday afternoon.

Moments after landing, the old Hollywood leader and aviation enthusiast could be seen sitting in the cockpit, with his headset on, taking directions from the air traffic controller for the last taxi over the runway.

When Ford drove the plane to the correct parking spot, he opened the cabin entrance door and helped Kay, the birthday girl’s mother, down the five steps and out of the plane.

Ford was all smiles when he docked the $18.8 million Citation Sovereign jet, the largest of his prized collection with a top speed of 525 mph and a range of 3,200 nautical miles.

And then, after I was the first in the family to step back on the ground, the actor seemed to briefly check the exterior of the plane before opening the cabin door.

The Chicago native looked handsome in a light blue shirt tucked into dark blue jeans and black sneakers.

Flockhart, who is best known to many fans for her title role as Ally McBeal (1997-2002) in the hit series, then left the jet while leading one of the family dogs on a leash.

Like her husband, the actress kept it casual in the fashion department, dressed in faded black jeans, a gray sweater and white retro Adidas sneakers.

She also had her dark brown haircut long and straight, just past her shoulders, parted in the middle.

Moments later, Ford and Flockhart carefully helped her mother (née Kay Calista) out of the plane and down the stairs to the ground.

It turns out that the legendary actor picked up his mother-in-law in Tennessee on her way from New York to Los Angeles.

Flockhart’s mother is retired and lives in Morristown, Tennessee, just over 225 miles east of Nashville.

It wasn’t long before an SUV pulled up next to the jet and the family of three got in and were apparently on their way to celebrate Flockhart’s 58th birthday.

Ford, who has been providing flight training since the 1960s, has been involved in a number of crashes and exciting close calls during his piloting career.

In 1999, he was involved in a LongRanger helicopter crash during a routine training flight, causing the craft to land hard and tip over on its side. Neither Ford nor the instructor’s pilot were seriously injured The New York Times.

In 2015, Ford’s World War II plane made an emergency landing, due to engine failure, at the Penmar Golf Course in Venice, California. He suffered a broken pelvis and a broken ankle.

More recently, in April 2020, the Hollywood legend had an accident moments after a single-engine plane landed at Hawthorne Municipal Airport outside Los Angeles.

After being advised to wait, he misheard a radio instruction from an air traffic controller and crossed a runway where another plane was landing.

Although there was no risk of a collision and no one was injured, Ford admitted his mistake when he was scolded by the aviation authorities.

After meeting at the Golden Globe Awards ceremony in January 2002, Ford and Flockhart soon began their romance that would eventually be sealed in marriage in June 2010.
