Harrison Butker calls out ‘crazy’ Paris Olympic opening ceremony with bible quote as Chiefs kicker stirs up controversy AGAIN

Kansas City Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker is once again using his religion as a platform for social commentary after objecting to a particular scene during the opening ceremony of the Paris Olympics.

In one section of the long, anthemic performance, a group of drag queens lie stretched out on a raised red carpet.

In design, they resembled Leonardo da Vinci’s painting ‘The Last Supper’.

A number of people expressed their displeasure about this performance on social media. Butker was one of them.

He tweeted a video of the performance, in which he quoted a verse from the Bible: Galatians 6:7-8.

“Do not be deceived, God is not mocked. For whatever a man sows, that will he also reap. For he who sows to the flesh will of the flesh also reap corruption; but he who sows to the Spirit will of the Spirit reap eternal life,” Butker’s tweet read.

The performance angered many Christians, who felt their religion was being mocked.

The phrases “disgusting” and “Sodom and Gomorrah” trended on Twitter the morning after the ceremony, while the performance was still a topic of conversation.

Butker found himself in the spotlight earlier this summer after a speech at a Benedictine College graduation ceremony in Kansas was criticized by some as sexist.

Butker congratulated the women who received their degrees, saying that most of them were probably more excited about getting married and having children. He also said that some Catholic leaders are pushing “dangerous gender ideologies on the youth of America.”

In May, Butker delivered a controversial speech at a Kansas university graduation ceremony

Butker, whose own mother is a veteran physicist, also criticized Pride month and President Joe Biden’s stance on abortion.

The controversial speech drew heavy criticism and a day after his speech, a petition was started to remove the Chiefs kicker from the team’s roster ahead of the 2024 NFL season.

Butker remains with the Chiefs and traveled to the White House to celebrate his team’s Super Bowl victory.
