US Vice President Kamala Harris raised more than twice as much money as former President Donald Trump in August, her campaign announced on Friday. In her first full month as a candidate, she raised $361 million from nearly 3 million donors.

Trump’s team announced Wednesday that he had raised $130 million in the same period. Harris’ team said it ended the month with $404 million in cash for the final sprint to Election Day, $109 million more than Trump’s campaign said it had in late August.

Harris’ massive war chest is being used to fund a $370 million paid media campaign for the final two months of the campaign and to pay more than 2,000 field staffers spread across more than 310 offices in key states.

Harris’ fundraising builds on the $310 million she raised in July, the vast majority of which came after she took over President Joe Biden’s campaign after he dropped out that month. The ticket swap has helped the Democratic Party reverse the fundraising lead that Trump had developed in previous months, as voter doubts about Biden’s fitness for another term dampened donor and voter enthusiasm.

In a short time, Vice President Harris’ candidacy has built a historic, broad, and diverse coalition with the kind of enthusiasm, energy, and determination that wins close elections, Harris campaign manager Julie Chavez Rodriguez said in a statement. As we enter the final stretch of this election, we will make sure that every hard-earned dollar is used to persuade the voters who will decide this election.

The figures released by both campaigns do not include their full filings with the Federal Elections Commission, which are due later this month. Both campaign totals include fundraising by their respective national parties and associated committees.
