Harmony Montgomery’s father Adam found guilty of murdering his five-year-old daughter – as girl’s mom rips ‘coward’ killer
Adam Montgomery has been found guilty of murdering his five-year-old daughter Harmony.
A jury found the New Hampshire father, 34, guilty of second-degree murder and abuse of a corpse, among other charges, after six hours of deliberation following a two-week trial.
Montgomery repeatedly punched the helpless child in the face after she had a toilet accident while sleeping in the car in December 2019.
Montgomery and his wife Kayla were then taking opioids and eating fast food when she died from her injuries in the backseat.
He faces life in prison without the possibility of parole and will be sentenced at a later date. The young child’s body has still not been found and she was not reported missing until years after the incident.

Montgomery was also found guilty of second-degree assault, tampering with physical evidence and tampering with witnesses and informants.

Harmony’s mother, Crystal Sorey, who did not have custody of her daughter, called Montgomery a “coward” after the verdict.
‘He’s a coward. He is a coward, he has always been a coward,” she told reporters outside the court.
‘That’s why he did what he did. He took her away from the people who loved her because he couldn’t hack what he had no control over. That was all he cared about: control, everything in his life. She meant nothing to him,” she explained.

“This is not a day we celebrate,” the adoptive parents of Harmony’s brother Jamison said in a statement.
“It’s a day that only adds to the incredible pain and heartache that surrounds a little girl who was never given a chance” Blair and Johnathon Miller, who were trying to take care of Harmony at the time.
“Jamison went to the front door hoping Harmony would find us, he was going to look for her in a park,” they said.
He added, “As we now dig deep into our hearts to find the ability to offer forgiveness, we look to our son to give him the strength to fight the demons this tragedy has brought a lifetime.”
New Hampshire Governor Chris Sununu described Montgomery as a “monster” who “deserved to spend the rest of his life in prison.”
“I am grateful to the judge, jury and the Department of Justice for delivering justice for Harmony,” the Republican wrote on X.

During the trial, prosecutors described how the child killer moved Harmony’s body from container to container and place to place as her body decayed.
The locations included the trunk of a friend’s car, a cooler in the hallway of his mother-in-law’s apartment building, the ceiling fan of a homeless shelter and a freezer in an apartment.
Montgomery’s estranged wife Kayla, Harmony’s stepmother, said the body was at one point kept in a hospital maternity ward in a tote bag, according to the same report.
Kayla, who was reportedly there at the time of the murder, said she placed the tote bag between her own young children in a stroller and took it to her husband’s workplace.
Investigators described how Montgomery eventually disposed of the body in a rented moving van in early March 2020.
Toll records show the truck in question crossed Boston’s Tobin Bridge multiple times, but there are no other highway records that could help police identify the body’s whereabouts.
Harmony wasn’t reported missing until 2022 when her mother, Crystal Sorey, who had no custody of the child, discovered she had never attended school.

Prosecutor Ben Agati branded Montgomery a “raging titan” for his heinous crime.
He said: ‘Adam Montgomery was not a loving father. He was a raging titan who had nothing to do with Harmony.
“On the day of Harmony’s death, all he had was his car, his anger and his fists. After learning Harmony, he soiled himself in the car.
“He took her life out of anger because of an accident in the bathroom.”
Montgomery reportedly told his wife Kayla, “I think I really hurt her this time” after the fatal blow – and went on to say, “I felt something.”

Manchester Police declared her missing in December 2022.
A Massachusetts watchdog agency later found that the state’s child welfare system did not prioritize Harmony’s “needs, welfare and safety” in placing her in her father’s care.
