Hargreaves Lansdown’s prospective new owners should ban working from home, says its co-founder.

Peter Hargreaves, who founded the firm with Stephen Lansdown in 1981, said he hoped more staff would return to the office if private equity bidders led by buyout firm CVC took control.

“There’s a lot of work from home, and the helpdesk doesn’t work if you work from home,” Hargreaves told the Telegraph.

He added: “I hope they do away with working from home. You just can’t run a business like that. It’s just madness.’

Moving on: Hargreaves Lansdown’s board said this week it would accept a £5.4 billion bid from CVC, Nordic Capital and Abu Dhabi-backed Platinum Ivy

His comments come after the company’s board said this week it would accept a £5.4 billion bid from CVC, Nordic Capital and Abu Dhabi-backed Platinum Ivy.

HL, which was listed on the stock exchange in 2007, is the largest investment platform in the country.
