Happy Valley fans believe they are “piecing together” vital clues to the series finale after a nail-biting trailer dropped on Tuesday.

Viewers face an anxious wait until Sunday night for the extended 70-minute episode that will see the final showdown between Sergeant Catherine Cawood and Tommy Lee Royce.

And some believe there could be a heartbreaking end for a main character after seeing the escaped convict break into the family home.

Fans were quick to comment on the 16-second clip, admitting they had “chills” watching a bruised and bloody Tommy (James Norton) break into Catherine’s house through the back door.

One wrote: ‘Oh my gosh, what house is he in?’ To which one fan account ominously replied: ‘Catherine’s…’

Another fan of the show said: ‘OMG. OMG. TLR, it’s at his house. Catherine needs help. Now,” while another fan wrote: “Are you fucking me? He is at her house, he is desperate, she is crying, were the police alerted? How is she supposed to have a satisfying ending in just 1 hour and eight minutes?
