Happy sweet 16th, Princess Eléonore! King Philippe of Belgium’s daughter is radiant as she poses for new portraits to mark her birthday

Princess Eléonore of Belgium looked radiant as she posed for photos to mark her 16th birthday today.

Eléonore is the youngest child of King Philippe and Queen Mathilde, who are also parents to Princess Elisabeth, 22, Prince Gabriel, 20, and Prince Emmanuel, 18.

In the first of the new portraits, shared on the royal family’s official Instagram page, the 16-year-old sat on the grand stairs of the Palace of Laeken.

Eléonore chose a simple but effective background for the second portrait, standing next to one of the palace gates, smiling.

Dressed in smart-casual attire, the 16-year-old wore an elegant cream blouse and deep blue trousers for the occasion, sweeping her blonde hair over her shoulder with the snaps.

The Royal Palace of Belgium today released two new portraits to mark the 16th birthday of Princess Eléonore of Belgium

The young royal completed her outfit with a pair of patent black loafers and a set of chic gold-colored chains.

The palace captioned the post: “Princess Eléonore celebrates her 16th birthday today. Happy sweet sixteen!’

As the youngest child of King Philippe and Queen Mathilde, Princess Elèonore tends to behave inconspicuously.

It is believed that she goes to school in Brussels and occasionally accompanies her parents on royal engagements.

In September last year, Eléonore was photographed enjoying a night out with her mother, Queen Mathilde, 51.

The royal duo was photographed during the opera ‘Cassandra’ at the Opera van de Munt in Brussels, together with director Peter De Caluwe.

She is now known as an avid violinist and has been seen playing the instrument in public a number of times.

In 2017, a charming video was released by the Belgian monarchy in which she surprised her father on his birthday with a recital of Happy Birthday.

The little boy was the picture of concentration as she serenaded the king, who looked on in delight.

And when she was done, he reached out and embraced his daughter in a warm hug.

Meanwhile, she also performed publicly at the royal Christmas concert in December 2020.

Princess Eleonore, who wore a blue dress during her performance, looked focused as she impressively showed off her mastery of the violin during the concert.

It is also believed that she enjoys reading and art, and her favorite sports are cycling, swimming, skiing and sailing.

Princess Elèonore’s older sister, Crown Princess Elisabeth, is the heir apparent.

A change in the law ten years ago made it possible for the eldest child, male or female, to ascend the throne in the country. If she takes on the role, she will become the country’s first queen regent.

Elisabeth spent 18 months at UWC Atlantic College in South Wales before returning to Brussels during the Covid-19 pandemic.

The Princess, who obtained her International Baccalaureate Diploma in 2020, enrolled at the University of Oxford after completing a one-year course in social and military sciences at the Royal Military Academy.

The course is said to teach in depth about the four components of Belgian defense; Army, Air Force, Navy and Medical.
