Hannah Waddingham steals the show as she meets Prince William – along with Cate Blanchett – at the Earthshot Prize Awards Ceremony in Singapore

Prince William enjoyed the company of some of the world’s biggest stars today as he attended the Earthshot Prize ceremony in Singapore.

The royal, 41, teamed up perfectly with guest Hannah Waddingham – with William wearing a sharp velor suit and bow tie, while the Ted Lasso star wore an elegant black ball gown with an emerald green sash – as the pair strolled the green carpet for 2023 Earthshot Award Ceremony.

There was even more glamor at the environmental awards, held at The Theater at Mediacorp in Singapore, when Cate Blanchett, looking elegant in a cream embroidered trouser suit, posed for a photo next to the heir apparent.

Earlier, Prince William admitted he believes green campaigns are “an uphill battle” as he wishes the finalists the best of luck.

The Prince of Wales, along with Hannah Jones, CEO of the Earthshot Prize, met all fifteen finalists shortlisted for the awards at the foot of the world-famous Supertrees in Gardens by the Bay on Tuesday morning.

While there, he learned more about their projects and how the Earthshot Fellowship retreat in Singapore this week helped them.

Hearing how several finalists hoped to scale up their projects in the future, William praised them for their work to date, saying: ‘Campaigning for activism is sometimes very hard work, it’s an uphill battle, that’s the point Earthshot – to take the beautiful work to the next level. you’re all doing. It’s mine and Hannah’s job to level you up.

“Good luck to you all.”

William also spoke to Nidhi Pant of S4S Technologies from India, one of the finalists of Build A Waste Free World, and revealed that he talks to his children about food waste.

Her project combats food waste, rural poverty and gender inequality by helping small-scale women farmers preserve and market surplus produce, including misshapen vegetables.

He told Ms Pant: ‘It’s so important. The number of conversations we have as a family – picking up a carrot with a funny shape and asking why it shouldn’t be sold – is crazy.”

With the finalists of Protect and Restore Nature, the prince spoke to Manja Kargbo, founder of the Freetown the Treetown tree conservation project in Sierra Leone, a ‘pay as you plant’ program for local communities.
