Hangover star Zach Galifianakis blasts Democrats for filling DNC with celebrities instead of focusing on average Americans

Hangover star Zach Galifianakis has criticized Democrats for packing the DNC with celebrities instead of focusing on ordinary Americans.

The four-day event at the United Center in Chicago was attended by Kerry Washington, Tony Goldwyn, Eva Longoria, Ben Stiller, Octavia Spencer, Uzo Aduba, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Oprah and Mindy Kaling, among others.

Musicians such as John Legend, Patti LaBelle, Stevie Wonder, Pink, The Chicks, Mickey Guyton, Jason Isbell and Lil Jon also performed. Rumors of a Beyoncé cameo, which never materialized, angered fans.

Their presence provided entertainment and political support for Kamala Harris, who thus became the official Democratic nominee.

While there were plenty of celebrities in attendance, many voters complained about the lack of policy focus on what Democrats planned to do to help everyday Americans.

“As a small town kid from North Carolina … I wish the DNC would distance itself from the celebrities a little bit,” Galifianakis said Variety.

“It works to some extent, but they have to win over rural America first.

“Hollywood thinks it’s so important and that’s a problem. Actors are people too, and citizens too, but I’m more on the small-town side than the Hollywood side. That’s just me.”

The Creative Coalition, an arts advocacy group that has sent a delegation of actors and actresses to every political convention since 1996, announced that it has sent its largest group yet to Chicago this year.

This year at the DNC, even the most boring part of the convention – the roll call – was transformed into a dance party with upbeat music.

Little Jon The crowd was whipped into a frenzy by his hit “Turn Down for What,” after which Georgia cast 123 votes for Harris.

“We’re here tonight to officially nominate Kamala Harris,” he said before starting to sing the song.

He also sang a few lines from “Get Low,” editing the lyrics into “From the window, to the Walz,” a reference to vice presidential candidate Tim Walz.

Meanwhile, Eva Longoria spoke briefly on behalf of the Texas delegates before passing the microphone to Cecile Richards, the former president of Planned Parenthood.

The Texas portion of the vote was highlighted by an instrumental version of Beyoncé’s “Texas Hold ‘Em” before the state cast 263 votes for Harris.

The actor and producer is an outspoken supporter of reproductive rights and produced a 2018 documentary, “Reversing Roe,” about abortion rights and abortion access in America.

Actor Wendell Pierce was also on hand with the delegates from his home state of Louisiana to express his personal support for Harris and help the state announce its 47 votes for Harris.

“I am a proud son of Louisiana and Louisiana means family, and I am surrounded by my family, the representatives of Louisiana,” Pierce said.

Some fans wanted even more – more than 70,000 supporters tried both a Beyoncé and Taylor Swift approval to exist by signing a petition from MoveOn.org asking the two stars to take action.
