Hampton Park, Melbourne crash: Mother and refugee identified as victim
The victim of a horrific head-on collision involving a P-plater has been identified as a hard-working single mother and refugee who was on her way home to pick up her son for school.
Zamira Hussainpoor, 35, was killed on Tuesday morning when a car drove onto the wrong side of the road and crashed into her Toyota hatchback in Hampton Park, in Melbourne’s south-east.
Mrs Hussainpoor, who died at the scene, was just minutes away from picking up her 13-year-old son Husnain after completing a night shift at a factory where she worked.

Ms Hussainpoor’s brother-in-law, Abdur-Rahman Butler, says she emigrated to Australia in the early 2000s and has raised her son alone since he was two.
“Despite countless setbacks and hardships, including abandonment by her ex-husband, she prevailed,” he said.
“She was loved by her community, her family, her friends and colleagues, but especially by her dear son Husnain.
‘She died in the service of both her son and her colleague who was in the car with her at the time, which she had kindly picked up to go to work.
‘Zamira was the perfect mother, the perfect daughter, loved by everyone and the joy of the party, no one could tell the deep pain and hardships she had endured because it was always hidden behind a radiant smile. She loved her son more than anything in the world.”

Mr. Butler started one GoFundMe page for Ms Hussainpoor, who has since raised more than $21,000.
“As a single mother, she was the sole breadwinner and caregiver for young Husnain, working tirelessly at night shifts to support him financially, missing sleep all day to spend what little time she could with him,” Butler wrote.
“Zamira has done a great job raising Husnain, a 13-year-old boy who is extremely smart, compassionate and kind.”
“While young Husnain has handled the situation with exceptional grace and patience, any boy his age would inevitably feel the effects of losing his mother.”
Mr Butler said Husnain, who never knew his father, would be cared for by his retired grandmother.
The money raised by GoFundMe will go towards helping raise Husnain and “releasing the financial burden of these tragic circumstances.”
Police are investigating whether the driver of the ute, who was driving on his P number plate, was speeding at the time of the fatal accident.
Ms Hussainpoor’s colleague, who was also in the car at the time, was taken to hospital with serious injuries.
