Marina Hanna and Robbie Awad had been married for just over a week when she was killed in a fatal golf cart accident while on their honeymoon in the Whitsundays.
The husband of a young newlywed who died in an alleged golf cart accident during their honeymoon on Hamilton Island has pleaded not guilty after being charged in her death, but failed to appear in court, drawing the ire of the court. magistrate presiding over the case.
Marina Hanna, 29, married Robbie Awad, also known as Robbie Morgan, in a grand ceremony at a church in Sydney on June 11, before heading north to the Whitsundays in Queensland two days later.
The happy couple spent their luxury trip enjoying poolside cocktails, sunbathing on waterside loungers and taking a helicopter ride around the island.
Mr. Awad, 30, was driving the electric stroller with his new wife in the passenger seat, in June this year, when it rolled.
Hanna suffered serious injuries and died at the scene.
Following a police investigation, Mr. Awad was charged with driving without due care and attention causing death, seat belt violations and use of a mobile phone.

Mr Awad was not present at Proserpine court in the Whitsundays when the matter was first brought up, prompting an outburst from Magistrate James Morton, ABC reports.
‘Where is your client? Why doesn’t he appear to plead not guilty on the record? he asked attorney Sam Wildermuth.
Wildermuth said there were “logistical problems” for Awad, who is based in Sydney.
The court then adjourned to allow Mr. Awad to appear by phone.
He pleaded not guilty to driving without proper care and attention causing death.
No pleas have been filed on the charges of not wearing a seatbelt, making sure his passenger was wearing it and using a mobile phone, and those matters will return to court in February.
Awad remains on bail.
