Hamilton Hill crash: Shock admission from motorcyclist who crashed into a brick wall after travelling at double the speed limit, killing his girlfriend
New details have emerged about a motorcyclist who lost control at high speed and crashed into the stone edge of a house, leading to a horrific accident that killed his partner.
Shane Edward Norris, 32, pleaded guilty to the death of Ashlee Kathleen Giacomini, 31, during a hearing at Stirling Gardens Magistrates Court in Perth on Wednesday.
Norris spoke only to confirm his name and how he is arguing the charges, the Western Australian reported.
Court documents reveal Norris was driving twice the speed limit, at more than 100km/h, when he hit a speed bump on Pilgrim Way in Hamilton Hill in Perth’s south-west on October 20 last year.
Norris lost control of the bike and hit a curb, then crashed into a brick wall, knocking the couple off the bike.
Mrs. Giacomini, who was sitting in the passenger seat behind Norris, was thrown onto the lawn of a nearby property.
She suffered severe brain injuries and was rushed to Royal Perth Hospital, where she never regained consciousness and died 11 days later.
The court heard that Norris admitted during a police interview that he was speeding at the time of the accident.

Norris also admitted in his statement to police that he did not have a valid driver’s license, had smoked cannabis earlier that morning and had used methamphetamine the night before.
Later blood test results showed both drugs were in his system.

Norris suffered minor injuries and ended up on the edge of the sidewalk.
He can be seen writhing in pain on the sidewalk, before spotting his girlfriend lying motionless on the grass.

CCTV footage showed him begging a bystander to help Mrs Giacomini.
“Please help my friend…Can you check on her?” he said.
“Can you check to see if she’s breathing?”
Norris is expected to be sentenced in December.
