Bodies of women killed by Hamas in the attack on Israel on October 7 were booby-trapped with grenades and beheaded, an inquiry in Westminster heard yesterday.

Female volunteers who collected and cleaned the bodies for burial were often forced to flee the morgue due to explosion warnings.

One volunteer, architect Shari Mendes, told the All Party Britain-Israel Parliamentary Group: ‘On several occasions we were told to flee – ‘Go away! Out!’

‘We didn’t want to leave them (the dead women) behind, but we were told ‘it’s dangerous, you have to get out’.

“The entire staff had to leave until it was safe to go back in.”

More than 1,100 Israelis were killed on October 7 when terrorists under the command of Hamas and other groups operating in the Gaza Strip attacked Israel.

Shari, daughter of a Holocaust survivor, added: “I have seen women shot in the head many times. It seemed as if the faces of these women had been deliberately erased. It was clear that these women were dying in agony.”

Emergency worker Simcha Greiniman, 47, who went door to door collecting bodies, said: ‘In one house a woman was lying face down on her bed. She was naked from the waist down. Her hands were tied in front. She was shot in the back of the head.

“When we moved her body (we saw) she had a live grenade in her hand. Thank God no one was hurt.”

Ashley Waxman, cousin of hostage Agam Berger, 19, praised the Daily Mail for our story headlined “Don’t Forget Them,” which showed the battered, bloodied faces of teenage hostages, including Agam.
