Halsey RESPONDS to Britney Spears after pop star slammed her in bizarre since-deleted post over new Lucky music video
Halsey responded shortly after Britney Spears deleted a scathing post about her new music video Lucky, which officially dropped on Friday.
The 29-year-old Without Me hitmaker, who got the Toxic singer’s “blessing” for sampling her 2000 track of the same name, also imitated Spears, 42, in the early 2000s.
However, Britney initially said she was “angry” and threatened to sue Halsey over the video, before deleting the post and claiming her phone had been hacked.
In response, the mother of one cleared the air, typing on X (formerly known as Twitter): “and I love Britney!!!!”
“I have always and always will be that you were the first person who made me realize what it means to feel inspired. And you continue to inspire me every single day.”

Shortly before that, Britney had opened her own account on X, because she had taken her Instagram account offline the day before, on Thursday. Her account has since been reactivated.
“For obvious reasons I am very upset about the Halsey video,” Britney had written. “I feel harassed, violated and bullied.”
‘I didn’t expect that an artist like her, someone I looked up to and admired, would portray me in such an ignorant way by portraying me as a shallow pop star with no heart or care.’
Spears then explained, “I’ve been dealing with my own health issues, so I deleted my IG account yesterday. I’m definitely going to put it back up to show you that I care.”
“I am speaking with my lawyers today to see what can be done in this matter,” Spears said at the end of her message. “It feels illegal and downright cruel.”
However, the post was quickly deleted. The star explained on X that she was not the one who posted the statement.
“Fake news!!! That wasn’t me on my phone!!! I love Halsey that’s why I deleted it!!!” she wrote, followed by a red rose emoji.

In the text, the mother of one refers to her recent health problems, after revealing she has Lupus SLE as well as ‘a rare T-cell lymphoproliferative disorder’.
“I shaved my head four times because I wanted to/ And then I did it again because I got sick/ I thought I’d changed so much that no one would notice, but no one did,” she sang at one point.
‘Then I left the doctor’s office in tears / Became a single mother at my premiere / I told everyone I was fine for a whole year, and that’s the biggest lie of my career.’
The chorus of Britney’s version featured her singing, “She’s so lucky, she’s a star, but she cries, cries, cries in her lonely heart, thinking, ‘If there’s nothing missing in my life, why do these tears come at night?'”
Halsey, however, changed the lyrics to sing in the first person. “But I’m so lucky, I’m a star, but I’m crying, crying, crying in the lonely heart and thinking, ‘If there’s nothing missing in my life, why do these tears come at night?'”
After sharing a glimpse of the music video, Halsey also revealed that she got Britney’s “blessing” to sample the 2000 track.
Earlier last week, a social media user asked the Without Me singer if Spears was “involved” in the new single.
The star responded to the fan by typing, “Yes of course! I wouldn’t even think of doing it without her blessing!”

Her new music video for Lucky was directed by Gia Coppola, the granddaughter of acclaimed director Francis Ford Coppola.
Simon Rex, known for his role in the Scary Movie franchise, also had a cameo in the video.
When it was revealed that she was sampling Britney’s song, fans dug up an old interview in which Halsey was accused of insulting Spears.
In 2017, she explained that she had recently started to view herself as a CEO, after realizing she had more control over her work than other pop stars.
“In the beginning it was naivety,” she said Fast company. ‘I thought every artist did everything themselves. I thought Britney Spears wrote her own music – I thought every superstar designed their own live show, so I always just did that stuff.’
After the interview went public, commentators on social media began claiming that Halsey had assaulted Britney. Halsey responded on social media.
“Most things are easy to ignore but this hurts because I love her and have always spoken highly of her. Her brilliance is undeniable,” she wrote on Twitter.
“I love Britney so much and I wish people wouldn’t spread such nonsense,” she insisted. “I was just saying it takes a lot of people to finish a song.”

The End was a mournful acoustic ballad about someone who throws herself into a romance while battling a life-threatening illness.
Halsey, who prefers both the pronouns “they” and “them,” has not yet announced the title or release date of her next album.
Last June, Halsey spoke candidly about her battle with her fans. In a post she shared on Instagram at the time, she explained, “In 2022, I was first diagnosed with Lupus SLE and then with a rare T-cell lymphoproliferative disorder.”
“Both conditions are currently being treated or are in remission. I will likely have both for the rest of my life.”
However, she added positively: ‘After a difficult start, thanks to the help of great doctors, I slowly got everything under control.’
“After 2 years I feel better and more grateful than ever to have music to listen to,” the mother of one continued. “I can’t wait to get back where I belong, with all of you. Singing and screaming until I drop.”

In a separate post, she spoke openly about her health struggles. Several videos have emerged showing the singer receiving IVs and also breaking down in tears.
In 2022, Halsey shared on Instagram that she had been diagnosed with Ehlers-Danlos syndrome, Sjogre’s syndrome, mast cell activation syndrome (MCAS), and postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome (POTS).
The singer also suffers from endometriosis and gave her followers an update earlier this year in March after having surgery to reverse
