Boss Team Games has announced that it is now working on two new Halloween games.
According to the exclusive report of IGNthe studio, best known for Evil Dead: The Gamewill develop both titles based on the iconic 1978 horror film, in partnership with the producers of the Halloween film franchise, Compass International Pictures and Further Front.
Details about one of the games are currently being kept under wraps, but Boss Team Games has confirmed that the other is being made in Unreal Engine 5. It’s said to be in “early development” at the moment – and will feature input from filmmaker and director of the original Halloween, John Carpenter.
Carpenter said in a statement that he is “intimately involved” with the project. “As a huge gamer, I’m thrilled to bring Michael Myers back to life in this game, and I hope to blow you guys’ minds,” he continued.
According to Boss Team Games, both Halloween games will allow players to “relive moments from the film and play as classic characters from one of the most iconic and important horror films of all time.”
These classic characters likely reference returning Halloween adversary Michael Myers, but it’s currently unclear whether you’ll also be able to play as iconic final girl Laurie Strode, played by Jamie Lee Curtis, in the games.
The games may become spin-offs with an original story and characters other than Michael, rather than faithful adaptations of the horror films.
Evil Dead: The Game is an asymmetrical multiplayer game with story elements, but Boss Team Games has not yet confirmed whether the Halloween titles will follow the same format.
