It’s only been a few days since she remarried, but Hallie Biden and her new husband were forced to make their first public appearance as newlyweds on Thursday during the criminal trial of her brother-in-law and one-time lover in Delaware.
With his slender face, penchant for an unshaven look and baseball cap, her new husband, John Hopkins Anning II, bears a striking resemblance to her former lover Hunter.
But when it comes to politics, the Ohio financial adviser couldn’t be more different from the first family as he has been a registered Republican since 1997, DailyMail.com can reveal.
Anning is a divorced father of three adult children: Katherine, 25, Margot, 24, and John Hopkins III, who turns 18 this year.

And while Joe Biden has navigated a tangle of allegations of financial improprieties thanks to his close relationship with his errant son, the Annings can keep it in the family without fear of controversy or scandal.
As Senior Vice President – Wealth Management at UBS The Anning Group, Anning works with his father Robert, who has the same title and moved to UBS after 45 years as an advisor at Merrill Lynch.
Fifty-two-year-old Anning II, who graduated from Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs, New York, with a bachelor’s degree in American studies, followed the same path and began his career at Merrill Lynch in Denver, Colorado, where he worked. 1996 to 1998.
During this time, he met 6-foot-2 blonde Katie Zicka, 53, a former University of Denver student, whom he married on September 20, 1997.
The couple returned to his hometown of Cincinnati, Ohio the following year in 1998 when he began working for UBS The Anning Group.
He sits on the board of The Christ Hospital Foundation and previously served on the board of the Cincinnati Parks Foundation.
On August 28, 2013, after 16 years of marriage and three children, Katie filed for divorce.
Divorce documents obtained by DailyMail.com show that the couple had been living separately for a year at the time, but shed little light on the issues that drove them apart.

Hallie was reportedly engaged to Anning, a financial advisor from Ohio, for more than a year, but the couple waited to get married until her younger child graduated from high school.
They state: ‘Differences have arisen that make it impossible for them to live together.’
The couple had signed a prenuptial agreement on September 19, 1997, the day before they were married, the details of which are not public.
But as part of their divorce settlement, Anning agreed to pay his ex a lump sum of $150,000, $4,000 per month in alimony and $3,600 per month in child support through 2020.
He also agreed to take out an $800,000 life insurance policy as long as he had financial obligations to his ex-wife and children.
The former couple also set up a trust fund to cover their children’s education costs.
They further agreed that Anning would be responsible for two-thirds of the tuition, while his ex would only pay one-third.
The newlyweds were photographed arriving at a federal courthouse in Wilmington on Thursday morning ahead of Hallie’s testimony.
Plans for the wedding first emerged on Saturday, with Page Six reporting that the couple would get married that weekend after a marriage certificate appeared in Ohio’s Hamilton County court records.
President Biden’s former daughter-in-law was married to his son Beau from 2002 until his death in 2015, during which time Beau served as Delaware’s attorney general.

Hallie Olivere, who grew up in Delaware and whose mother was friends with Joe, joined the Biden clan in 2002 when she married Beau, the president’s eldest son.
The couple had two children and were married until his death in 2015 from brain cancer, during which time he served as attorney general of Delaware.
After Beau Biden died, she started dating Hunter around the same time he divorced his ex-wife Kathleen Buhle.
The couple continued their tryst for two years, during a period now in the spotlight of his federal lawsuit.
