Halle Berry reveals Bond star Pierce Brosnan ‘restored her faith in men’ amid rollercoaster Eric Benet marriage

Halle Berry praised Pierce Brosnan for “restoring her faith in men” after their collaboration in 2002’s Die Another Day.

The 58-year-old actress, who played Jinx opposite the 71-year-old Hollywood icon in the James Bond film, expressed her deep gratitude for Brosnan’s gracious behavior both on and off the set.

“He will always be my Bond, always,” the Oscar winner said Wired on friday.

“I’m a fan of Pierce Brosnan,” she continued. “He restored my faith in men in that movie. There can’t be a more gentlemanly person than Pierce Brosnan.”

During the filming of Die Another Die, Halle had a high-profile relationship with singer Eric Benét, whom she married in 2001. Their romance was short-lived, as they divorced in 2005 amid rumors of infidelity.

Before her marriage to Benét, Halle dated baseball player David Justice. They were married from 1992 to 1997, amid rumors that Justice was abusive.

Halle then had a notable relationship with French actor Olivier Martinez, with whom she dated from 2009 to 2012 and with whom she has a child.

After her relationship with Olivier Martinez, Halle Berry dated actor and model Gabriel Aubry from 2005 to 2010, with whom she had a daughter, Nahla.

Both relationships ended due to various personal and public challenges.

Halle is now in a relationship with singer Van Hunt. The couple has been together since 2020 and are open about their relationship on social media.

As for the time she spent with Pierce during filming, the star admitted that playing a Bond girl “wasn’t on her bucket list initially,” but stressed that she felt “really honored” to be part of the franchise as Jinx.

She said: ‘Bond wasn’t on my bucket list, no, to be in a film, but I loved the films, always have, but now that I’ve been in a film, I feel like I’m part of film history. Those films are iconic. They will be part of our history forever, and I feel really honoured to have been part of it, especially with Pierce.’

In 2020, she also revealed that Pierce literally saved her life during filming.

“I was supposed to look sexy and try to seduce him with a fig, and then I choked on it and he had to stand up and do the Heimlich technique,” the actress revealed on The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon.

“That was so not sexy,” she added, laughing. “James Bond knows how to do Heimlich! He was there for me, he will always be one of my favorite people in the whole world.”

Berry stars opposite Mark Wahlberg in the new action film The Union, in which a man is recruited by his childhood sweetheart for a major American intelligence mission.

Looking back on the film, the actress said she was “fun” to have the opportunity to tell such a story because it made her think about her romances as a young girl.

She told E! News, “It was fun. I think a lot of us fantasize about that one person who ran away or what if I had stayed with my high school sweetheart, what would my life have been like?”

The actress married for the second time in 2001 to Eric Benet. They divorced in 2005.

Her 53-year-old co-star stressed that the film’s plot can give men hope that they can get second chances with women from their past.

He told Fox News Digital: “Halle, she and I have known each other for so long, and this movie is going to be so amazing. It’s every man’s fantasy to get a chance to be with Halle Berry.

“‘They were childhood sweethearts, and they get back together. He basically waited 25 years for her to come back, to walk through that door again and come into his life, and it happened, and there’s nothing he wouldn’t do to prove himself to her if he had a second chance.

“For me, that was the whole motivation of the character: to do everything I can to not screw it up again.”
