Halle and Van have been dating since 2020 and the Monster’s Ball star has been dealing with aging and menopause lately.
‘Men become sexy, they get gray hair, they are silver foxes. We’re just old and haggard.’
At 58, the Catwoman star is on a crusade to change the narrative around aging for women.
“When I found out I was in peri and that none of my doctors had even talked to me about this time in my life, I became fired up to get all the information I could about myself, for myself,” Berry shared. Glamour.
The more she learned about what her own body was going through, the more she wanted to help other women in the same situation. That’s why she launched Respin, a health and wellness platform serving women through their menopausal experience.
‘I realized I knew so little [about menopause]I’m sure so many other women have the same little information,” she says.
Since then, Berry has lobbied for the bipartisan Advancing Menopause Care and Mid-Life Women’s Health Act.
She also appears alongside four medical experts in MasterClass’s The Magic of Menopause, streaming now.

“I was probably working on it for ten years and had no idea. I thought I was going crazy. I had very bad memory loss. It was difficult for me to concentrate,” Halle said of her first symptoms.
“I flooded my laundry room three times, and I left my keys in the doorways. I could never find my phone. I would walk into rooms and not remember why I was there,” she explained.
“These were things that weren’t part of my makeup before this period. I started thinking, “Oh God, am I starting to get dementia? Is something happening to my brain?”
The Swordfish star said she became very irritated and found herself wanting to argue over the smallest things, another trait that didn’t seem like her usual self.
‘It was hard for me to sleep, and I think sleep deprivation is a form of torture. I felt like I was falling apart at the seams, and no one seemed to be able to do anything about it.
“Everyone just said, ‘Oh, it’s just a time of life. You’re getting old. Just deal with it.” But I didn’t feel old. “I didn’t feel like it was time to pack up and go out to pasture, but everyone started telling me that,” she explained.
Even when she told her doctor that sex felt like she was being attacked by razor blades, he initially determined that it was “the worst case of herpes he had ever seen.”
But it wasn’t herpes at all, it was the hormonal changes she was experiencing.

‘I felt crazy, alone and scared. “I felt ashamed,” she admitted, noting that she didn’t have the words to explain what she was going through, and even once she did, she couldn’t explain the menopausal headaches. No one would understand.
When Halle learned that everything she was experiencing could be traced back to perimenopause, she started doing research and along the way she realized she had a platform to help other women during that time in their lives.
In May, the A-lister joined a group of bipartisan senators to push for legislation that would allocate $275 million to menopause research and education.
Yelling, “I’m in menopause!” on the steps of the U.S. Capitol during the rally, Berry showed her determination to parent “gracefully” and naturally.
