Hall of Famer Ray Guy, widely regarded as the NFL’s greatest punter of all time, dies at age 72 after protracted illness and a career with three Super Bowl wins with the Raiders
Ray Guy, considered by many to be the greatest gambler in NFL history, died Thursday at the age of 72 after a long illness.
The death of the Pro Football Hall of Famer was announced by his alma mater, Southern Mississippi.
A six-time All-Pro squad and seven-time Pro Bowler, Guy was a 1973 first-round draft pick by the Oakland Raiders. He went on to win three Super Bowls with the team – two in Oakland and a third in Los Angeles.
